I know you're probably all prayed out, but we could use some extra prayers. DH lost his job a few weeks ago. It didn't seem real until we received the unemployment paperwork. He had been at JD for almost 8 years and financially we were doing well enough for me to stay home.
I've been praying continually since this happened for God's will. I've been so thankful for the time I've had to be a SAHM. I've tried to stay really positive, but it's been very difficult. DH feels like a failure as a man and I can't help but be a bit bitter. I keep a positive facade for his sake though. We got our insurance information today and to continue our current coverage would be close to $1800 a month!!! JD paid all of that. I literally felt sick to my stomach reading that.
I have been interviewing like crazy. I'm afraid my 2+ years at home looks bad on my resume, but I'm hoping there is something out there. I tested really well, even after two years, at Palmer Group and Midwest Staffing Professionals, so my skills are still there, just need a job.
If you know of anything in the office management/admin field let me know. ![]()
Also, I've begun interviewing daycares. So far I am not comfortable with any I've interviewed in Colfax, they're all, imo, way too full. So I'll be looking for a daycare for my two boys. If you know of anything in the Altoona/DSM east side area, that would be helpful too.
Re: Prayers for our family
You know you have my prayers. I still think you should do daycare :-) It's a great job, and pays well too!
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you. I'd check at american-equity.com. They have great benefits, good hours and are always hiring!
You've got mine too. My DH was laid off from JD about 2 years ago and I can understand how he and you are feeling. DH has had a hard time finding anything else that was similar to what he was doing and loved doing, so now he is a SAHD and takes card of M while I work. Wish I could trade places with him, but I do love what I do too. Hang in there, things WILL get better!
PS We currently have no insurance because we could not afford it. STINKS BAD but what can you do. Ours would be around $900 a month for the 3 of us and it's crap insurance at that.
T&P! I am aware of the mental toll that situation will take, hang in there! I would go back to being a waitress in a heartbeat if we were in a bind (short term while I continued looking for a job). The hours are flexible and if you find a good place you can average $50+ per hr (usually 5-6 hr shifts in the evening). Just a thought while you figure things out! My cousin is technically a SAHM and only works Friday and Saturday as a waitress and makes $400-$600 in a weekend just in tips!
