speaking of waste....

I'm trying really hard not to be mad at DH. He accidentally left out an entire container of chili last night.

I made a big crock pot of chili for Warner and him which should have been an easy meal since I was going to have dinner with some friends. Then DH was nice enough to let me sleep in this morning and when I got up he says to me "the good news is that I cleaned up the kitchen, the bad news is that I left the chili out all night"

It was a LOT. I was going to freeze half of it and of the non-frozen half we still would have had leftovers for at least another meal and maybe even a lunch for me this week. And it's all wasted.

Oh and his version of a cleaned up kitchen? Hmmm, clearly we need to work on that. But I got a very fun girls night and got to sleep in so I'm trying not to be a bitter betty.

Re: speaking of waste....

  • That sucks. :(  If it makes you feel better, it's not just your husband. DH has done that more than once when he was supposed to put away the leftovers. It's never fun.

  • dittoWNW. We have to keep food in the overn or the dog will get it (when we eat downstairs in front of the TV like slugs). John has, on far more than one occasion, cleaned up the kitchen and lef tht efood in the oven -- we throw away a lot of meat that would have been great lunch leftovers. I now somewhat obsessively (and likely annoyingly) open the oven door and check, all the damned time.

  • My hubby once did that to a wild rice soup which I made (and it was pretty time consuming).  I was very very sad.

  • this used to be DH's claim to fame. he would blame it on the dog.

instead of doing the dishes right away after dinner, he likes to relax and help me get the kid (we only had one at the time) to bed first, appreciated. only, the dog would help herself to whatever was on the table or counter (she was 3 feet tall), so he put all the food in the microwave...and forgot it.

can't count how many times i'd come downstairs in the morning to find last night's dinner, now spoiled, in the microwave.

    grrrrr.

  • My DH as well.  If it's on the table, he'll remember but for some reason anything on the stove top or counter are invisible to him.
