soralette mentioned board games in the good morning post....and i love board games..but i'm kinda bored with what we've been playing...
we've been settlers-of-catans geeks for years..and i really like the style of it..it's just getting old.
what do you play?
what do you wish you played if you had more time/players/money/etc?

MMm....LOVE Settlers!!
Suggestions: We picked up this fun game called Fjords that's only for 2 players. It's a little similar to Catan except you take turns discovering and placing the land tiles first before claiming. I never really liked Catan with only 2 people, so Fjords gets around that.
Apples to Apples is our favorite non-strategy group game.
Games we've played at friends' houses that we want to get: Power Grid, Dominion, Ticket to Ride
We have a ton of board/card games, and do play them regularly with friends.
Settlers of Catan is good, but can definitely get old. I also like Dominion, Carcassonne, Power Grid, Zombies, Munchkin, Fluxx, Qwirkle, Forbidden Island, Hive (two-player game), Lost Cities (two-player game), Anomia, Set...
I could go on, but those are my favorites.
I can't remember the last time we played a board game together.
We do lay on the couch and play Words with Friends together...does that count?
I love Settlers as well!
We've got Axies and Allies, Would You Rather, EuroRails, Aquire, and Rook... those are our go to games.

I was pretty sure Forbidden Island did more than 2 players? That's the one in the really nice tin box with the island that sinks slowly and you have to collect the four treasures and fly off the island before you die, right? Because I know I've played that one with three and it had options for more... Or am I thinking of something else?
Settlers of Catan is fun, but I agree -- it definitely gets old after a while. Our collection's pretty extensive. :X We have a stack of games taller than I am that're still in shrinkwrap that we haven't even played yet; we should host a party just to play new games sometime!
Also a fan of Dominion, Carcassonne, Munchkin and Fluxx... A few others I'll throw into the pile of suggestions:
The Red Dragon Inn
Puerto Rico
Funny Friends (out of print, but SO much fun; it's kind of like the Sims: the board game)
Shadows over Camelot
7 Wonders (I don't own this, but it's fun!)
Ra
Tsuro
Traders of Genoa
Ingenious
...I could probably go on... :X
Yep, you're right--Forbidden Island is 2-4 players. Oops! I believe there are a total of six possible roles. It's so fun, but can be incredibly hard, especially if you start with the water already fairly high.
1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
Dominion
Bang! (not necessarily a board game but still fun)
Munchkin (same as Bang!)
And of course the old school games
Monopoly
Life

This. Exactly this.
lol. me too!
i've never really been into board games. only ones that are funny.. otherwise i'd rather not.
I've only played it once (on easy mode, lol), so I'm kind of surprised/pleased I remembered the name correctly! I'm glad to hear that the difficulty ramps up; easy mode was fun, but more of a challenge could be really good, too.
LOVE Settlers. H and I will play with two teams each and make up silly rules when we're extra bored.
We play Monopoly, Game of Things (with friends), Checkers, a really old game called Twixt (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/949/twixt), and some others that I don't feel like getting up to check out in the closet.

I LOVE Board games....Risk is fun and sort of similar to Settlers, I have heard (never played that)....We love loaded questions, apples to apples, etc. I love games that are like "get to know you" games or games where there are questions about yourself or the other players...I think those are the most fun, IMO.
We also play scene it and you don't know jack on the xbox. those are fun too!
I have never heard of any of those! I must need to expand my board game horizon.....and I thought I was a board game addict....
