Who's ready for Halloween? (now with kitty PIP)

I'm listening to the Halloween Party station on Pandora. As soon as my birthday is over, I am vamped for Halloween, so I'm going crazy.

I'm going to the Halloween store (again) tonight to get some more party decorations. I'm going to be Little Red Riding Hood with claw scars across my face and a woodsman ax, and DH is wearing wolf ears (he's not big on costumes). I've decided to make the brain hemmorage drink (with Peach Schnapp's and Bailey's) for the drinkers and a sherbet punch that looks like dirty swamp water for the non-drinkers. I am soooo excited.

Halloween is kind of my end of the year because then the holidays come, and I hate those because of my stupid family. So it's a pretty big celebration for me.

Who else is excited? (other than imoan, because I know she is)

  • I am SO not ready; but will get that way this week. I love this time of year!
SO SINGS MY SOUL *WHAM!* MY SAVIOR GOD TO THEE *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!* HOW GREAT THOU ART *WHAM!*
  • I'm only excited about costumes.  I just took photos of my dogs in theirs (a sheriff and a bad dog prisoner).  And I'm waiting on part of mine to come in the mail.  I'm going to be the Sundrop girl from the soda commercial.

  • I'm ready for the candy my kids won't eat :-)

Costumes are still being determined. I'm not sure how much candy to buy as the numbers have been decreasing each year for us.

  • I bought the candy yesterday for trick or treat day.  We have our pumpkins and fall decorations, but that's as far as we go with decorating.  DS wants to carve pumpkins, so probably next weekend we'll do that.  I like that he still likes to do some 'kid' things!  He talked about going trick or treating, but personally, I think he's too old.

A lot of teens are doing the trick or treating these days, but I don't really know that I'd be cool with it. We had some teens show up last year and it just seemed silly.

Are you carving real pumpkins? I actually bought some of those fake pumpkins at Michael's last year and carved them. I liked it a lot better because they're not as messy and I can use them again next year. I'm thinking of getting a bunch of small ones for people to carve at the party.

I think people hate my parties. I know that isn't really true, but I am pretty sure my parties are more like children's birthday parties than grown up parties. At least I'm not doing party favors...yet.

I also already took pictures of my cats in their costumes.

  • He'll have to be the one to deal with getting 'looks' from people who don't approve of teenagers begging for candy. I told him that he should at least make an effort to put together a good costume if he's going to go through with it.  He also looks older than 16.

    We have real pumpkins.

Yeah, if it's an awesome costume, maybe he gets a break. I admit that a large part of my having a party every year is having an excuse to wear a costume.

The great thing about real pumpkins is that you can roast the seeds after. Delicious.

I always say that I'm going to do this but then I never do.

They are so tasty. But I haven't had them in years. My mom would never do it. I got them at school sometimes and occasionally at friends' houses.

  • what did you dress the cats up as?  We usually roast the pumpkin seeds in different flavors - garlic salt and pepper on one batch, lowry's season salt on another, and plain salt on the last.  YUM!

Wasabi was originally a taco cat. She decided she didn't like the costume, though, so I got her a little dress instead (she likes the shirt-type stuff):

    Mac is a spooky skeleton:

And Matchbox is...I don't know. A Halloween ballerina? She loves her costume and bites me if I try to take it off:

Matchbox is already orange and black anyway, and she does that weird back-arching thing cats in Halloween stuff do:

So they're all ready to go. I wish one of them liked the taco costume more, because I loved the palindrome thing. Oh well.

    And here they are now:

  • I have at least 4 halloween costumes for Joaquin, not including the skeleton sleeper she has.  We got her 'official' costume yesterday.

Here's her first unofficial costume from last friday.

I am totally one of those parents.  Suck it.
