Birthday present after dating 2 weeks?

I started dating a guy 2 weeks ago (we have known each other about 6 months), and we immediately hit it off.  We have been spending a lot of time together, and tomorrow is his birthday.  Do I get him something, or not?  I thought about a nice shirt, but I dont know...help!

Re: Birthday present after dating 2 weeks?

  • Take him out for/make him his favorite dinner and maybe a card (something very light hearted, not mushy,etc.). Presents at this point would be overkill.
  • No way.  Maybe buy him a 6 pack of his favorite beer if you're hanging out tomorrow.

  • I agree with the others, or a funny and totally lighthearted card would also be appropriate. That's about it.

    Have fun!

This is what I would do (assuming I really liked him).

  • I had only been dating my bf for a few weeks when his bday rolled around.  Mine had been a few days before and he got me a beautiful bouquet of flowers.  I ended up cooking him his favorite dish for dinner and I did get him a lil something...a gift card to a restaurant I knew he took his daughter to often.  He loved it....
  • Funny card should do the trick.

  • Agree with PP. A gift would be overkill. Make him dinner, make him a card, or buy him a 6 pack. Keep it simple. Even though you've known each other 6 months, you've only been dating a very short time.

Agreed.  And maybe his favorite dessert too.

  • Get his name tattooed on your breast.

    lol

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • I think a card is sufficient. Maybe a cupcake or something.

  • I would just treat him out to dinner.  Maybe a nice place, but not nicer than any place he has taken you!

Aim for a special experience, not a material gift.
