I honestly think that based on her statements she IS unfit. Yes, I do believe that lots of parents may have some drinks after LO goes to bed--- however she has admitted that she was drunk and that she believes that she "blacked out". I think that there is a big difference in DH and I having a glass of wine at dinner and her drinking enough to not remember. Also, she was the only caregiver home, in my mind it is very irresponsible to drink like that while being in charge of children's safety.
I have not heard any of the updates since I heard she failed the lie detector test and that they were no longer cooperating with police, but...
I don't know. Something's weird.
There was one point where I read that she said that the baby was taken "sometime between the time I put her to bed and when I went to bed." And then the father said that he came home and HE discovered that she was missing. So, where was the mother? Was she sleeping at that time? She didn't check on the baby before she went to sleep?
And then it comes out that she drank so much she blacked out? And no signs of a break-in? I don't know. Very odd.
Makes me sick to my stomach to think about, though.

I completely agree. She has two young boys and a baby - a lot can go wrong, really quick. If you're not sober enough to drive your kid to the nearest emergency room, you need to have someone there who is. I know none of us are perfect, but this just reeks of irresponsibility to me.
It has also come out that she lied to police about the last time she saw Lisa. First she said it was 10:30, now she is saying it was at 6:45. She only admitted to drinking after footage of her at a grocery store with an unidentified man showed her buying a box of wine and baby food.
AND- now the family is not allowing the other children to be interviewed anymore.
I'm kind of leery of the mother just b/c we have a case like this in my hometown right now and it's very similar except it was the father (I went to school w/ him). He wasn't sure of the facts, then it was the paramedics that caused the injuries to the baby, and then he says that he *may* have blacked out and he forgets what happens when he goes into a rage and blacks out.
The little baby passed away a few days later. He was only 25 days old. It breaks my heart.
Same here. One of us puts Natalie down around 8:30 and we don't open her door back up until 8:30 the following morning. She bolts straight up if anyone opens her door at any point, and then refuses to go back to sleep. I am so torn about what to do about this and I feel like it might justify the cost of a video monitor.
