Brynn REFUSES to drink milk of any kind unless she is nursing. I'm trying to wean her (we are just morning and nights now that I'm back to work). I don't want to do that though if she won't drink any milk at all the rest of the day.
She won't take frozen breast milk. (It isn't bad I tasted it) She wont take whole milk - no bottles - no sippys - no cups with straws. I don't know what to do. I know she needs it. My MIL ended up making her some sort of sugar free tapioca pudding using frozen breastmilk the other day just to trick her into getting some milk.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Moms I need help
FWIW- Lucy would take BM from a bottle but not from a cup.
But she STILL won't drink milk, she doesn't like cow's milk or goat's milk. I weaned when she was 16 mo old.
We make sure she gets WCM in her smoothie in the morning (so she usually gets about 12-16 oz of milk then) and that she gets yogurt and cheese during the day too (full fat)
it isn't IMPERATIVE that they have milk, just that they get the benefits of it (the fat mostly) so yogurt/cheese is good as well.
She doesn't HAVE to have milk. She can get her calcium and fat from other sources like yogurt, cheeses, etc. She just has to have the equivalent from the other sources of what she isn't drinking in a day in milk. You could also try Soy, Almond, and Goat's milk.
ETA: Just an FYI that Mariela would never drink BM out of a sippy or regular cup only a bottle, but she will only drink CM out of a regular cup, not a sippy (I never offered it to her in a bottle as an option). So basically you may have to experiment with what she drinks it out of, too.
I never had this problem with B, but my pedi suggested to add a little bit of chocolate or strawberry milk to WCM. Since B has had a taste of chocolate milk (thanks FF...) he always yells for "choca!!!" when I open the fridge. So I'll fill his sippy 7/8 full with WCM and just a dash of chocolate milk so he can see me pouring it into his cup as the last thing I do before I hand it to him.
Thanks everyone. We go back to the pedi on Friday about that stinking blister/ "excima" patch near her girly parts because it isn't getting any better so I'm going to talk to him about all of these suggestions.
We have tried different cups and that doesn't seem to do any good. I'm hoping she gets over this soon.
Thanks again!
