We're hosting Thanksgiving this year for DH's family and I have no idea where to order a turkey from. Can anyone suggest a great place? Perhaps a butcher or a farm? Or even a store that carries great turkey's?
Re: Where to buy a turkey?
I know that Fred Meyer does a special where if you spend $50 on groceries you get a free turkey. I'm not sure if they are still doing it this year or not.
The reason I know this, you ask??? Because I was in line a few years ago behind a little old lady that was buying a ton of groceries and had a billion coupons for everything... her total was $49.57 or something, because her coupons saved her a ton of money... and she was complaining about not getting her free turkey. I mentioned that she could just buy a pack of gum and that would put her over her $50 total, and she screamed at me and went and found another 70 cent can of cranberry sauce instead... crazy lady!!! She held up the whole line for her free turkey. Itw as an awful shopping experience!!
Anyway, good luck with your turkey!! : )
Ditto this. We got one of the free-range birds from NS last year and found it to be dry and tough. I'd probably go with NS again this year if I were hosting, but I might spring for one of the Diestel heirloom turkeys instead of just the free-range.
If you want something less expensive and more factory-farmed, you can order from Albertson's, too.
