Anyone ever buy a closed-bid estate house?

We are really considering buying a house that is being settled by a law office since the estate has no heirs.  The process doesn't involve any escrow money or the "normal" path of buying a house - just a closed bid that will be selected and then a check delivered on a date after that if you are the chosen bidder.

Any advice or anyone been through this?

  • Thats how I bought my first house.  I had to submit my bid to the lawyer and a few days later he called me and told me I got the house.
