Since the book club has been a bit sluggish for responses, I thought maybe I would change it up a bit. Instead of trying to get people to read the same book, I'd like to make a post book suggestions each months.
So...
Have you read anything interesting lately? What's next on your reading list? Please list the title, author, and a little description pimping the story.
Re: Good Books?
I just read the Hunger Games series, which I realize is pretty popular, so many people have read it already, but I LOVED it. I read all three books in 4 days.
I also just read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (?). It is supposedly the up-and-coming "it" book, and movie rights have already been purchased for it. I will warn that for me, it started out pretty slow, but I stuck with it, and it got much better. It is hard to give a synopsis, but it is basically about a really magical circus. I realize that is a poor discription, but it is hard to say more without giving it away.
Currently I am reading The Hangmans Daughter. I just started, but it is good so far. It takes place in Germany in the 1600's and is about the town hangman (obviously). It is kind of dark so far, but I am intrigued, and I like the writing style. I have heard really great things about it.
Others that have been recommended to me: The Book Thief, Beautiful Creatures, Sarah's Key.
I am really terrible and giving book synopses. Wow. Sorry!

I am currently working my way through the Stephanie Plum series when I can stay awake long enough to actually read. My current list of books to read is:
-The Book Thief, Markus Zusak
-Cutting for Stone, Abraham Verghese
-The Glass Castle, Jeanette Walls
-The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks, Rebecca Skloot
-Infidel, Ayaan Hirsi Ali
-Sarah's Key, Tatiana de Rosnay
I second Sarah's Key and The Book Thief.
The next book we are reading for the book club I'm in is "Before I go to Sleep" it follows a woman who has memory loss (kind of like in 50 first dates) and the mystery surrounding her... Haven't read it yet, so don't know much else.
I <heart> the Stephanie Plum books.
I'm currently reading the Game of Thrones series by George RR Martin. I'm on book five now, and I'm really liking them. He's been referred to as the Tolkin of our time. The books are set in a mideval-type time period in the country of Westeros. Kind of mideval England-ish but with dragons. There's some magic and "special" stuff, but nearly as much as in Lord of the Rings. It mostly centers on a power struggle between 7 or 8 characters, all trying to win the throne. HBO is making a tv series out of it, too.
