Dexter 10/16 *spoilers*
Last night was pretty good. I knew Deb would hate having to sit in the office most of the time instead of being out on the case. She really pisses me off.
Anyone else find it strange how they are suddenly showing naked women more now? I think it's going to make the show seem more sleezy showing that crap. It never did in the past unless it was a dead body.
Poor Quinn. He won't admit he is miserable without Deb. I think he might end up leaving or something. Loved his mention of how her stuff was next to the big bag of fertilizer.

Umm they show naked women all the time. Lyla, season 2, was basically never clothed. Rita was naked a lot in season 3. Trinity's daughter was always naked with Quinn. The show has always had a lot of nudity IMO.
Anyway, this episode was underwhelming. The whole tooth fairy thing was a little too serendipitous for my liking.
I'm sick of the bodies/mannequins on horses and I know next week's whole episode will be about it. But really, they've been showing it to us for 3 weeks, I'm over it.
Quinn is being annoying. I hope Deb succeeds as Lt as a big eff you to LaGuerta.

IGN TV: As the season has gone on and Rita and Dexter have grown closer, you've had some pretty intimate scenes. Did you figure going in, "Okay, this is cable? We might end up doing some naughty stuff"?
Benz: Yeah, I mean it is a concern when you sign on to do any show really. But I felt those scenes we had to do, where there was some nudity involved, it was integral to the script and it was not gratuitous. They shot it beautifully. There is a little bit of hesitation, but for me, the script was so good and Rita is such an amazing character that I was not going to let that stand in my way of playing the part. And they have held up their end of the bargain, which was not [to have me] gratuitously just walking around naked, but it was an integral part of the script and story.

I agree on all counts. Last night was underwhelming. I agree that the re-emergence of the Tooth Fairy was too serendipitous, although entertaining. But I guess the writers are really pounding away at the "what else is there?" theme? Is Dexter going to become a grouchy old serial killer with a son who hates him just left with a box of trophies too? Oh no--he better find some deeper meaning in life.
There's always been plenty of nudity on this show. I vividly remember Trinity's daughter being naked a lot--they even showed a pretty graphic scene with Quinn, um--servicing her while she was buck naked. So no, the sex and nudity don't bother me at all. It's been a part of the show since the beginning, it's not a gimmick.

Agreed. I've noticed that I tend to like it more after the first few episodes, but I'm a little worried about this season!

I agree with this too. Usually I think the season is going to suck in the beginning and then it picks up. I hope this one does soon.

I'm curious to see what the intern is up to- Why steal the evidence? And, I don't buy that she has a thing for Masuka (sp?) or whatever they are trying to go with that one.
me too even though I had JUST finished saying "something's up with him" to my DH- it still took me by surpise. Then I thought about how someone last week (or the week before) said something about Dexter is slipping- not doing as much research etc and thought it was kind of a rookie move to use his own car and leave the registreation in the glove box

As for nudity, I remember the Rita scenes very well!!

I was surprised when the tooth fairy pulled the gun on Dexter. I assumed they're trying to correlate between him and Dexter the "dead-end" to being a serial killer.
LaGuerrta is annoying. I hope Deb does well but I assume that eventually she'll step down and Angel will step in.
The lab girl stealing the hand...um, okay. Wouldn't it have been all bloated and disgusting by this point? I laughed that it was supposed to just be laying around.
I thought the horses were shocking. I hadn't seen any previews for this episode though. Gah, it was gross.
Also, did anyone else notice at the beginning when they are moving the women who is dead that she lifts up her own feet and moves them? I thought that was poorly done acting and surprised that it wasn't caught when the show is edited.
I still think it's insanely weird that Dexter and Deb were married in real life. 0_0!
