I guess sometimes it pays to stick up for yourself. I just got a massage at a local spa this weekend. I was really looking forward to it since I was so stressed about my test. I arrived early (as recommended) but by the time the treatment started it was definitely after the 10 o'clock hour that we were supposed to start. When I finished the massage I thought it seemed short and I looked at my watch and it was only 10:50am. It was supposed to be for a full hour. On top of that I clearly marked on my questionairre that I don't like to talk while I get a massage because it makes it difficult for me to relax. The massage therapist talked to me the ENTIRE time.
So I should have said something then but I lost my nerve. Instead, I filled out the form online that they emailed me and stated my complaints. I just got a call from the manager and she said that she would love it if I came back in and they were going to comp me an hour massage! Awesome news and I think they handled the complaint really well. I'm excited to get another massage sometime soon!
I never used to have any nerve to stand up for myself and now I've gotten more assertive. So glad I was able to give her the straight story!
Re: The squeaky wheel...
That's great!! The older I get the more I learn to stick up and speak up. It definitely pays off.
Enjoy your next massage.
That's awesome! And fantastic customer service on their part -- sure they're losing out on the profits for an hour massage, but more than likely you'll return to the spa, correct? Win-win!
Good for you for standing up for yourself -- I'm totally the same way and wouldn't have said anything. Looks like it pays off!
Good for you girlie!
I hate when people talk to me during massages too. I just want quiet for once in my hectic life lol
I know, right? I made it clear that she did a good massage but blatantly ignored the fact that I didn't want to be talked to, even though it stated it on the form I filled out. I really hope they give me someone else and might specifically request someone else when I call for the follow-up appointment.
