So, I'm helping my FIL (ok, pretty much doing it myself) plan a suprise 50th Birthday Party for my MIL. I don't want to do the classic grim reaper party because I want it to be fun & a reflection of her instead of a big joke.
Anyone have any good suggestions? Her favorite color is turquoise so I considered doing a turquoise and black color scheme, but I'm not sure.
I keep searching the google for invitation wording and other ideas and can't find anything that isn't overly tacky

Re: Suprise 50th Birthday
This is how I felt about my moms 50th- so I threw her a Rock n Roll 50's Party and the color scheme was turquoise, pink and black. I knew she liked that era and it wasnt a "Over the Hill' feel at all. I actually found a local diner that has a 50's deco (actually in those colors) so it was perfect. We just had dinner, drinks and played 50's music. We had a couple blow up guitars for fun. It was low key but fun. We dressed in 50's but left that optional for guests.
Heres a couple pics.
This 50s party is too cute!
OP - You can also do a "life's a beach" theme and decorate in torquoise and coral and ivory. Not over the top beachy though. I think something like this might work and be simple enough to put together. Some Beach Boys music playing in the background.
