Scary morning, it can only get better from here

DH stopped at the gas station around the block from our house this morning and was standing at the counter paying, when this young guy tried to push him out of his way and rob the place.  He called me maybe 15 minutes after he left the house to tell me.  He seems completely unphased by it while my stomach is in knots.  I walk with the kids up to that gas station all the time.

  • Ugh, so scary!  Leave it to a guy to call and not be worried.  He should be telling you to lock your doors and stay in the house till they know more!   So what happened with this guy?  Was he caught, did he chicken out, is he on the loose?!  Good luck and stay safe!

  • Wow that is crazy.  Did the guy have a gun?  What ended up happening?
  • Oh my gosh!!  That's so ridiculously scary!
  • Sorry I didn't add that.  The guy did try to pull a gun, but he didn't expect DH to have one as well.  DH held the guy until the police arrived.  He said the guy pushed him out of the way and then tried to pull his gun, but after he got pushed DH went for his automatically so the guy didn't get a chance to fully get it out.  I can't believe that he seems completely unphased.  I immediately turned the alarm on and made sure all the doors were locked.  DH goes to some not nice areas often for work, I am ok with him carrying there but I always ask him why he takes it everywhere even if he's running to the store.  I guess I should stop asking that now.

Thank God your DH has his carry permit and was carrying at the time or I bet this would have been a much worse situation.  DH and I both have our permits and in all our training they told us to either carry it all the time (except where it's illegal) or don't carry it at all and this is exactly why!  You NEVER know when you're going to need it.  I mean who would think some crazy person would go shoot up a Lane Bryant store but it happened!

  • Wow!  That is scary. I'm so glad everything turned out okay.

Oh holy balls!  That's insane!!!  I would be a wreck if that was FI.  Crap, he flew to Miami for work this week and I was honestly worried about a terrorist on the plane.  Every single morning before he leaves the house I tell him to be careful.  I am terrified that something is going to happen to him.  (I see horrible stuff all the time in my line of work.)

  • wow, that is crazy & scary all in one.

glad your DH is ok & was able to catch the guy, but I'd be a bit on edge too, esp. if you go there w/the kids sometimes......but it's so hard, we need to be on guard, but not let fear run our life....who knows, it could be a trip to Kroger or Meijer when the same thing happens...we don't want to think that it'll happen, yet we hear it on the news alot (maybe that's a reason I haven't watched the news in ages)....
