possibly controversial clicky: favorite type of apple

Re: possibly controversial clicky: favorite type of apple

  • I chose SS because it just depends on what I feel like, but typically it's either Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp.  Back in the day it used to be Red Delicious - you know, back when Washington red delicious apples weren't all exported out of the state and were actually...well, delicious and not gross and mealy with thick skins like they are now. Crying  I literally used to eat at least 1 apple a day.

  • Since moving here I'm addicted to honeycrisp. They are few and far between in Alaska. I love Granny Smith as well.

  • I'm really surprised that Red Delicious isn't getting any love.
  • Oh, man, apples. <3 One of my favourite things about fall.

I voted Pink Lady, since they're a new find of mine that I've been grooving on, but I'm also really fond of the Jazz apples (yeah, I know they're imported; they're still tasty!), the honeycrisps, and a bunch more. Basically the only ones I don't like are the current-day Red Delicious (nasty!); the rest are all good. :D

The ones we have around these days are too woody and mealy and lack a lot of the flavour they used to have. I might use 'em to bake with, maybe, but not for eating!

  • I had to vote for Fuji. Don't get me wrong, I LOOOoooove Honeycrisp, but I would like them less  if I had them year-round. I like the specialness of them, otherwise, they're actually a little too sweet.

  • I don't really eat apples, but DH loves honeycrisp since moving to Washington.

I usually use granny smith apples for baking stuff.
