Re-Poll (heh): Front Door Color

So, some of you voted/commented in my first poll on front door color.  Just choose a color already, I know!

I was surprised to see "cranberry-ish" win by so much.  We're having the door done starting next week and I am wimping out and leaning towards black but decided to at least investigate cranberries.  In doing so I came across this which I think I like....

It's actually on sort of a similar house (grey, mine is blue) but white trim, similar roof color, etc.  This paint is called "Dinner Party" by BM and....what do you think?

ETA: Here it is on my house:

Re: Re-Poll (heh): Front Door Color

  • I think it is too rusty for your blue--but hey it is just paint and if you hate it paint black over it!

Yes and no.  We CAN, but we want to avoid it since we are paying someone to do it (the door needs to come down and be stripped to the wood - we have 90 years of layers of paint on that sucker!)

  • I think our door is that color ...

Love it if that is the option you are giving me, but I still vote for RED. :)

  • I think it looks awesome.  I like that it's not fire engine red, which I think would lend too much of an odd patriotic feel to your blue hued house.  It's complimentary.  I like that makes a statement without being too loud.

  • I already PIPed yellow doors for you, woman.

The cranberry was my second choice :) It looks nice with your house.

  • I think you might be right, Amy.  You're good at this!  I didn't think it was 'rusty' at all but I just got back from the paint store (went to get a sample and the chip) and picked up a few others and compared to everything else I like.....it's much red/orange-ier :)

I found two others I really like that I want to put on the door and see what H thinks tonight!

If anyone cares the others are:

I know, I know!  I love the yellow but DH thought I was crazy-town for suggesting it - too bold for him plus I had a blue and yellow wedding and Jane's room is blue and yellow.  I need to....branch out.  Also, my neighbors just did a yellow door :(

  • I say go for it!!! If you really end up hating it, you can always easily paint black over it.

I really like the second color you just posted (Raisin torte?)

  • I like all of those shades of cranberry. I think you GO FOR IT. Black is boring. :)
  • I agree with Jaay about the yellow, it would look amazing! But I understand having DH agree and branching out.

I think the two new Cranberry colors you posted are so pretty! Much more cranberry/purple tones than the initial one!
