Re: Mums, Bumps and BBT's
I'm doing well. Getting closer now.
Ups: After I get back from my trip next week we're in baby mode and will work to get everything all set up. Also, I feel the baby moving so much now and it's very reassuring.
Downs: I have a flight back to the states tomorrow and I'm just worried about being uncomfortable and any possible complications although I should be fine. Also not really looking forward to wearing the dress I bought for my SIL's wedding, but am trying not to think about it really isn't important.
QOTW: I'm sure when the time comes I will have lots of things to list here.
Good luck MrsBini! Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!
We're doing okay. M is getting very close to walking, and has a word for William now (yaya). It's so cute. W is still liking nursery, and has a best friend (who he knew before). His speech is coming along.(Although we're beign referred to a speech-language specialist for advice on how to help him pronounce certain consonants sounds.) I'm amazed at some of the things he comes out with. At the moment, we're learning flags. And he's memorizing books.
Downs: W misses Mummy time still, and I've not found a way around it - although I'm trying to involve him in my chores more. Also M only naps for 20 min in her crib in teh afternoon. She still needs to sleep, and sleep-nurses on me for an hour or so, but I can't get her to sleep longer in her crib. (In the morning she mostly sleeps in teh buggy after we drop W off at nursery.)
QOTW: What was one of you're "I'll nevers" that you ended up doing with you're LO? Did it end up helping you? I was never going to bedshare. I wanted my bed and sleep space. I don't like cuddling. But with both, it was the only way to sleep. We tried so hard with M to avoid it, but in the end, she wasn't sleeping at all any other way. We weaned W off at 7 months, and M off at 5.
Ups: DS is learning and saying new things everyday. We talked about something being a triangle and a few hours later, he saw something else that was a triangle and showed me, saying triangle. I am easily amazed.
LO is doing awesome growing inside my tummy. She is in a much better place right now than out here with all of these sick people.
Down: I have been sick for a week now and was in bed for two days. Still feel pretty awful but I can move and get things done. Now DS and DH are sick too. We are a pathetic bunch at the moment and just exhausted.
QOTW: Not really sure: didn't want to give formula, had too. Didn't want to leave him to cry, had too. And didn't want to put him in front of a TV to entertain him, until he was at least two, and had to do that as well.
All is well here.
Ups: E is doing well and keeping up happy! She's much more active and is flipping to the side more.
Downs: She did not do well with DH last night while I was in class, she did take her bottle though. So apparently evening means she has to be with me and I'm the only one she will let put her to bed. Not so great
We have Mondays every week do work on this though
QOTW: I swore up and down that I'd not give E a dummy/passifier and you know what? She has 3 now. It means that she's not trying to find my boobs when she's in the carrier and she falls asleep so much easier. Oh and bedtimes are much nicer too! Before she'd fall asleep, I'd put her in bed and she'd wake up and wouldn't go back to sleep, now she gets her dummy and drifts back to sleep super quick.
Ups: DS has started saying "I love you."
Downs: DS has a cold.
I said I'd never bed-share and did for the first 6 months. It helped me sleep more
Good Luck MrsBini!!!!!
Good luck MrsBini! Thinking of you and your little guy!
Ups: 29 weeks today! I'm feeling pretty good and our little one is kicking up a storm! That and we settled on a name- FINALLY!
Downs: I have a cold. I can't sleep at night because my nose is so stuffed up that I can't breathe and I have a super-sore throat. I think its not pg related because tons of kids and teachers are sick at work. I went to work today but the librarian (who I work with,) kicked me out because she didn't want to get sick
QOTW: After learning all about "Tongue Thrust" as a student, I decided I was never going to give pacifiers to my baby. Then I got pregnant, and was talking about pacifiers with my aunt, who gently reminded me that its easier to break a paci habit than a thumb. We'll see how it all goes.
Good luck Bini! Thinking of you darling!
Ups: Baby shower was fantastic, nursery coming together, baby kicking and growing strong, CPR class and tour scheduled, only 11 more weeks! I can't believe I'm so close to being a mommy.
Downs: 3 hour glucose test tomorrow and doc put me on extra iron since I'm anemic too. Ree-eally hoping I a) don't puke and b) pass this one. I'm getting to that "dear lord how am I going to fit any more kid in there" phase of the pregnancy. I feel slightly smaller than a beluga whale.
QOTD: I really try not to have these "I'll nevers" but I think every new mom does. I don't have any of parenthood or how I will handle being a new mom. I just hope I get through the sleep deprived, breastfeeding every 2 hours, newborn phase with (most of) my sanity intact. Setting the bar low for myself.
My Israel Blog!
Good luck to mommy bini and baby bini!
ups: we are off to California tomorrow so DS can meet his family and friends. He's discovering so much stuff; I watch him playing on the floor and I am sure his neurons are going nuts learning and taking so much in.
downs: I have not packed yet, and I am getting anxious about the flight. I hope DS does well and sleeps like a champ.
QOTW: I guess what some others' have shared...dummies, formula, etc.
Good luck MrsBini! Hope you have a quick and easy L&D!
Ups: Starting to pronounce more words clearly, follows instructions when asked and stops getting into things when I tell him no.
Downs: Still bloody teething.
QOTD: I swore I wasn't going to give him formula, pacifiers, let him watch tv or bedshare. Did all of these things and it really helped keep us all sane.
Good luck MrsBini!
We have been so busy lately. I feel like there is never enough time. Alexandra and I were going down the slide Friday and her ankle got caught between me and the slide and twisted back. We ended up going to the ER, but luckily it wasn't broken. Dh's flight was diverted to NJ (en route from Brussels) due to turbulence, so he returned home late Friday and was told that we were in the ER. She didn't put any weight on it until last night, but now is back to standing and cruising, so that's good. Sleep has also backtracked, which makes for one tired mommy at work.
QOTD: bed share. We don't do it regularly, but when she's up several times a night or I'm really tired, I end up bringing her in here.
Thinking of you MrsBini if you're reading this! Hope all is well!
Ups: I have FINALLY actually decided where I'm giving birth and couldn't be happier with my decision. I'm going with a natural birthing room attached to a hospital. There is an etra fee, but I'm preparing for the labor I want (of course, anything can happen and my mind is open to that), a midwife will attend me the entire time, and my mom can be there as well as my DH. Also, my dad's insurance in the US (yeah, I'm that young) will cover the expenses so that's awesome. I am finally feeling relaxed and ready to go into labor and feeling really good about my care providers -- something I've been struggling with in the Spanish system I gotta tell ya!
Downs: Well, last weekend I had a stomach flu and had to stay overnight in the hospital. It was my first time checked into a hospital EVER. And I mean ever because I wasn't born in a hospital and I've never needed to be admitted to one before. Shocking, right?
QOTD: One big I'll never is that I'll never dumb down my kids and an I WILL that I have is that we will teach our kids to read before they step foot in a school (well, like elementary school). I really think that helps children gain an appreciation for reading if they learn it before it becomes schoolwork. Crossing my fingers to do both those things.
Hello, one day late! MrsBini, you must have a minibini in your arms right now. How exciting!
Ups: Baby is moving like crazy. It's a dance party in there, I tell you. And I just finished my baby shower registry.
Downs: I'm finally to the point where my lower back is starting to ache and my stomach is just getting uncomfortable big.
QOTD: I'll let you know next year.
Good luck Mrs.Bini!
I officially hit 3rd tri this week! On one hand, I can't believe that I have six months down, it went pretty fast. On the other hand, I can't believe that there are still three months to go, I don't think it can go quick enough!
Ups: I feel pretty good overall and I have still been able to maintain a reasonable level of activity and decent workouts.
Downs: I got scolded for "too many kilos" last week. Major bummer, especially considering that I have been keeping up with my workouts. Must lay off the chocolate.
QOTW: I haven't had a chance to do any of my "I'll nevers" yet... That said, I have certainly developed a long list of them, some of which I'm sure will be broken.

Ups: Georgia is walking! She is all grown up now, has 4-5 words that she can say. She is so much fun, and its great to see her interacting with us and other kids.
Downs: I'm in the middle of miscarriage. I really hate the NHS - its so confusing trying to figure out who to talk to and who to see. Everyone tells you something different and its very frustrating.
QOTW: I really have stuck to my guns with Georgia. I feel like I did everything I said I would. We breastfeed, she doesn't watch TV (although as she gets older, I'm sure that will change), we're almost weaned from the pacifier. I guess the one thing is that I have not let her cry-it-out yet (and I always said I wouldn't have a problem with doing that). She still nurses 2-3 times at night, and I should probably do some sleep training because she really doesn't need those meals.
I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. What are some of your questions. Maybe one of us based here knows the answer.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I just had a m/c on the NHS and I actually found that part of it really easy, the rest was horrible but they NHS staff were really lovely. Let me know if there's something I can do to help, this is such a horrible time and it just makes it worse if you aren't confident about your care.
(And yes, I have no idea why I still read this post, I guess I'm hoping I'll be back here soon!)
BFP Apr 2012, EDD Dec 19 2012 * twin h/b at 6wk, 9wk scan * Baby A lost at 12wks, Baby B was my rainbow born at 36wks
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you get things sorted with the NHS soon so you can start to move past this.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
I'm sorry for your loss amwallace.
Ups: M is loving school again. The teacher told me he is very nice with the other kids and is always in a good mood and ready to participate.
Downs: He's been sick since Friday. Tomorrow back to school for two days and then Toussaint holidays for 17 days! What the heck am I going to do for 17 days! lol.
QOTW: Breastfeed as long as I did. I started off planning to do it for 3-6 months, it turned into 18 months! It was just easier to keep doing it because I travelled a lot with him and it was the simplest way to calm him on a long flight.
Does Kingston have an early pregnancy unit? I know at St Georges they do, and that would be a good place to go. I am so sorry for your loss.
I see. It sounds like you have things under control now. For the next time, if your hospital has an early pregnancy unit, I agree that it's a good place to go. We went in for a six week scan because I felt anxious. Really, that was it. And even though I felt a bit silly, they assured me that's what they were there for and they'd rather me come in and see how things are going early on than to stress until the 12 week scan. I'm glad you don't have to go through the surgery, but I'm sorry your dealing with this.
