Miss Me????

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay girls!

First and foremost, I MISS YA'LL!! Seriously, I'm having Nestie withdrawals x100000. I just feel so worn out (in a good way!) when I get home from work/school that I just don't have the energy to be productive, and that includes checking up on you girls! But I do read all the threads, but most of the time I don't respond, especially if I'm checking out the board during class (only one class, my REALLY boring class where I want to gouge my eyes out, BUT that's besides the point)

Work/School: Everything is going great. Me and Y (my student) are getting along fabulously. He's such a funny little boy, he is DEFINITELY smarter than everyone gives him credit for. He's totally going to be the class clown. He still has a couple of tantrums, but I've gotten more confident on how to deal with them. Based on my VERY unprofessional opinion, I think he probably has Asperger's form of autism rather than ASD. He is a very smart boy, he can read, ask and answer questions, and speaks very well. He has problems with eye contact, has a few ticks, and occasionally cannot control his emotions, and has a few socially awkward habits. He also has problems writing and with some motor skills. But from what I've heard with the way he acted from the beginning of the year, it's like he's a totally different student. The school itself is great, I'm REALLY hoping I can do my practicum here and eventually become a full time teacher when I graduate!

Grad School: Um I have 8 days (weeks really) of this semester. WHERE DID IT GO!?!?!? Spring registration for classes start in 3 weeks. I LOVE my Special Needs class, I've learned SO much. My Reading class is alright, but I TOTALLY failed my first quiz (she does quizzes to help us with the foundations of reading MTEL test that we have to take in order to get our license) but she offers makeups and takes an average. My first lesson plan is due on Thursday on phonological awareness. I picked out a really cute book and I've been taking things that we use in my class anyway. My history class is my least favorite, mainly because the teacher is SO boring. :(

Life: Life is good. I haven't been able to find a second job as of yet, but I think the financial hit that we took isn't as bad as we think it will be. I'm going to keep applying to places, but I've decided not to let it stress me out if I can't find anything.

Well that was really long. I'm going to try to pop in as much as possible. Miss you girls!

Re: Miss Me????

  • Yay I'm glad its going so well! I feel your pain, between work and school and life in general its been crazy!!

Your student sounds like a lot of fun!  And this semester is flying for me as well!  From what I have heard from my classes, they are actually going to do away with the Asperger's and Autism diagnoses at some point soon, and move to PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) and it will be a wider spectrum so that those that fall between diagnoses will have their own place on the spectrum.

  • YES I miss you, and I feel the same way you do.  I am lucky if I have 5-10 minutes a day to browse the posts and I don't always have time to respond at work.  I always make sure I check in at home though :)  So glad everything is going well for you! xoxo

You are a champ (and so is Danielle) for going back to school and working at the same time. I can't imagine how tiring it can be.
