Granite countertops - Molly Jean

I want to rip out the laminate countertops and backsplash in my kitchen and replace it with granite and a new tile backsplash.

Where do I go?  Not Lowe's or Home Depot.

  • You might try paging MJ on this one - if I recall, she redid her kitchen with quite nice (and MM) granite.

  • We're actually in the process of doing the same thing... ripping out the old laminate and getting new counters/backsplash.  I have called renovation places (CFK, Aim), a subcontractor, a company that manufactures their own and can customize to what you want (Marble Works of Iowa), and looked at big box stores.  We also looked at Granite Transformations.  We're actually leaning towards Lowe's or Marble Works... definitely NOT Granite Transformations - more expensive and their selection is not good.  Not sure why you are against big box but I've had good luck with the Jordan Creek Lowe's and their prices were reasonable compared to other places we looked.

I don't like the colors at the big box stores - I really want a white granite.  But I do like the convenience of them and I can buy my tile in the same spot.  So we'll see.

  • Hey Jenny!  Yep, I ripped out my tile and laminate and re-did everything.

Shoot me an email and I'll send pics, etc.  I'm not online very much anymore.
