Did you turn the heat on yet?

I was trying to hold out as long as I could but caved this morning. It was 60 when I went to get in the shower and I was freezing!

Re: Did you turn the heat on yet?

  • Nope. Our apartment was 70* this morning when we woke up. The benefits of being in a brick bldg!

  • Yes.  We have 90% hardwood or ceramic tile in our house so my little feet were freezing a couple days ago.
  • Not a chance.  It was 65 when I got in the shower.  I think living in the former soviet union where the city turns your heat on at the end of November has somehow hardened me.  The heat won't come on for a good few weeks here.

  • Nope, it's chilly, but not terrible.  Kids have heaters in their rooms, so they are toasty and I just curl up under the covers.
  • Our thermostat said 59 this morning, but I slept great!  Our room stays pretty warm, and E is a hot box, so I'm not willing to cave yet.  We spend most of our time in the basement, where it's warmer for some reason, so I'm fine with waiting.
  • Yes, last night.  Like Steph, our entire house (minus 1/2 the basement) is hardwood or tile.  It was cold last night and I don't do space heaters.

    We turned it to 65.

  • Yes.  I cannot handle being cold anymore, and working from home I need to be comfortable.  It's 69* in here and I'm still wearing a hoodie.

  • My husband turned it on yesterday, I was surprised though, usually he waits until its reallllyyyy cold to turn it on. We have it set at 66 though, we both like colder temps.
  • Hell yes, we're wussies.  We turned it on over the weekend mostly to make sure it would work and just leave it on during the day.  It's off at night.

    thanks to jennied :)

  • Nope, especially since its supposed to warm back up over the weekend. I have slept awesome the past few nights! I love a cool room and a warm blanket!

  • Yes, but only because of the kid and our house, being 100 years old, gets a bit frosty.

Of course, when I go to check on him this morning, he's sleeping naked (had removed his fleece footie PJs).

Sooo, not sure we'll be keeping the heat on.

  • Yep, our townhouse has crappy windows/doors and it was getting pretty cold last night.

Yep, this is E.  She doesn't want to wear jammies half the time and will take them off in the middle of the night.  Silly kids.

  • Yes.  :(  A few days ago because it was just so dang cold in the house the other morning and we also have sucky windows/doors/insulation.  I have it set to 67, but I still can't understand why 67 in my house is freezing but 67 in other houses is so cozy!  LOL!  I usually turn it off during the day though, and back on at night.
  • Yes, because my child can't seem to keep her temperature up. Dh and I are sweating all night and she is freezing. It's gonna be a long winter!
  • My DH finally did yesterday after I had been begging for days, however it got down to 53 in here when he finally did :) SO, we have it set on 64 now.

  • Hell yeah!! I hate getting up in the morning and being cold!! My husband did it without me asking (AHHHH!) and that was sometime last week during the night and we were turning it off during the day and opening windows like huge losers...but it made me feel good in the  morning to get out the shower and not immediately get a million goosebumps.

*A sidenote...I think growing up in an old farmhouse where the upstairs bedrooms that all the kids slept in has made me want the heat on when I want it on as an adult!! We used to be able to only sleep downstairs when water would freeze upstairs (so we used to open the window and put a glass of water on the ledge until it froze)...ohh how deprived I was growing up as a child Stick out tongue
