Gilad Shalit is home

So this is Tuesday but the good news is that the IDG soldier who has been in captivity by the Hammas is home-on his way home after 5+ years.I know not everyone agrees with the feal made to get him home. But it just be amazing to be his parents right now.

Re: Gilad Shalit is home

  • That's great.

I must admit though, I feel like an ass as I don't know who that is. I thought that you had typoed Glad and Shalit was the name of your dog. I was coming in here to congratulate you on the recovery of your pooch.

My bad, but hey! Good news for Gilad Shalit!

  • This doesn't make sense to me.  It'd be great if peace came from it, but I highly doubt that will happen.  They're releasing people that were convicted of huge terrorist attacks.  I think they'll be willing to go for it again when they're free..
  • Today I wish I were still in Israel.  Welcome home Gilad!

  • I'm not sure that the trade off makes logical sense, but I can't imagine how happy his family and fellow countrymen (at least most of them) are to have him back!  I hope his reentry goes smoothly. And I'm happy they were willing to trade instead of just abandoning him.
  • I'm not sure how I feel about this politically, but personally it's amazing. His family must be so overwhelmed right now! I got a bit teared up reading some of the news stories, it's so amazing that he survived captivity that long.
