Re: Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit

  • I think he's taking this too far. I also don't think that his experience will be the same as a person that is obese trying to get fit for the first time. He has already lived a healthy lifestyle and knows what he needs to do to get fit. I think it will be much easier for him than it would be for a normal obese  person that is trying to make a lifestyle change for the first time.

  • I agree with MaryJane. Someone who is fit then makes themselves 'fat' on purpose with the goal of becoming fit again can't truly understand the mindset. I mean, actors do that all the time. So what? Look at Christian Bale, who bulks up for a role, then was down 40 pounds underweight for The Machinist, then back up for Batman. That doesn't mean he understands what it's like to be overweight for several years or more and be worried that he won't be able to change his habits and lifestyle permanently. Anyone can eat 2 dozen Krispy Kremes and then eat veggies for a week.
  • My coworker just brought this up out of the blue.  She said that since he was a personal trainer he has muscle memory and it will definitely be easier for him to get back into shape than someone who was trying to get into shape/change their habits for the first time.

  • I completely agree with MJW and DP. To be honest, I find the whole thing somewhat insulting. I've never been obese but I've struggled with being overweight my entire life and it's not something you can understand by purposely putting on weight. His brain functions in a completely different way. Many people who are obese have an addiction to food that is tied into their psychological//emotional well-being. He can't fake that, therefore losing the weight for him would be much easier.

I do think his intentions are good.

  • I agree with that. He'll bounce right back.
