People who were married at the time of enlistment/contracting

Did you have to sign something specific saying you supported your spouse's service? I'm pretty sure there's like a statement of support or something, but was it a sheet the recruiter/OSO had or did you have to write a letter?

TIA!

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

  • No. But, my husband is AF.

  • I signed forms they had at the recruiter's office.  They didn't mention anything about writing a letter.

Ok, I'm hoping a notarized letter can be in lieu, but we'll see. That's why they have notaries everywhere!

Bueno. He's getting a couple letters notarized. If they won't work, hopefully he can do it in theater.

  • Yep.  I had to sign a few papers and also meet with the recruiter.  Basically they want to make sure that you are on board so you won't screw things up. DH is AD in the Marine Corps.

H won't be able to do that, but hopefully the awesome letter of support he wrote me is good enough for them!

Also, spouses are life ruiners. Recruiters should know that already! ;)

Right? Haha, it is possible that the recruiter can send the paper work home with you.  They talked to me a lot, especially about DH's job choice (he wanted nothing but Infantry). I don't think they believed me when I told them I could care less what the job is as long as he is happy.
