Re: Ohio girls....

  • It was all over the news here today too even though we're really far from there. Crazyness!

Apparently the owner of these animals was found dead and the cages were all opened. He must have let them loose right or else they would attacked someone else?

  • I understood that the zoo was robbed and he was murdered. Weird and sad!

  • Ok so....the news coverage is ridiculous but I do have the scoop (on of H's coworkers has the inside story). So, the owner had been in jail (for some illegal guns) and when he got out he found out his wife had been cheating on him with the animal caretaker. So, he apparently killed himself after opening all the cages. So strange! It took place about an hour away but i'm on guard!

  • i know it's necesary at this point but i still feel sad for all the animals that lost their lives. it's like 25 and countingvthat have been killed already. again i am not saying it's not necessary when human life is in danger but it makes me sad nonetheless. i also kind of doubt he let the animals out.
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
  • That's nuts! Seems a little extreme on the owners part.

I know what you mean. They kept showing wild animals on the news (not the exact ones, but the same types to show people what was out there) and it made me really sad.

I wish they'd round them up and take them to a zoo.

  • Yes, they are still looking for animals. I'm sad that they are shooting to kill, but even the zoo personnel said that it's a very dangerous situation and they have no idea how the animals were treated while at the property. H just got an email (the zoo is a client at his law firm) and they stressed the safety of residences and staff. They've found a lot of the animals but are still looking for the rest. They did find some chimps and cats inside that will go to the zoo.

They've found, caught or euthanized all but 3, a mountain lion, a grizzly and some monkey

  • and also...they did attempt to tranquilize some of the animals. the problem with that is that it can take up to 8 minutes for the tranquilizer to take effect...they tried it on a lion or tiger and it got super agitated and tried to attack...so they had to put it down.

the article on usatoday is pretty good.

  • The last thing I heard is that he covered himself in chicken parts and then let the animals out. I guess he thought they would eat him? When they didn't, he shot himself.

  • Yep, I also heard that the man commited suicide and let the animals out. Such a sad story all around. I personally am not too worried about monkeys or lions in my yard from someplace 3 hours away.
