Does your kid still nap?

Macy has decided that she no longer needs a nap during the day :(  She hasn't taken a nap in over a month now.......boo.  I need that time alone!!!  Anyway, I thought kids took naps until at least 2.5 years old?

So my question is how old is your child and does he/she still nap?

  • Yes, DD is 2 y. 3 mo. and naps at least 2 hours a day.  Usually, at home, I can get her down for 3 hours in one nap on the weekends.  Instead of being productive, I nap then, too.  I am going to miss naps.

ETA:  Start getting Macearooni up earlier or going to bed later.

Ahh, lucky girl!  Up until a few short weeks ago she was taking one 2 hour nap a day.  Last night her dad kept her up until 10 PM (her normal bedtime is 7:30).  I was really hoping I could get her to go down for a nap today but no luck......yet.  Maybe if I keep her up for a few days in a row she will eventually take a nap again?

  • Yes, I highly recommend a lot of physical activity.  DD thinks running is the most fun thing EVER, so I ask her to run things around the house.  Run your baby to the bed!  Run your backpack to the kitchen, put a bowl in it, and RUN back!  It wears her out and I get to sit on the couch.

  • For the most part he still naps, and he'll be 4 in February.  He has days where he doesn't want to nap, and things aren't fun in the evening. I think kids go through no-nap phases, but I do think she probably still needs one.

  • Ava is almost 2 years, 11 months and still naps 2-3 hours a day after I pick her up from preschool at 1.  It's nice because I can still get stuff done while taking care of Jax but usually Jax naps at the same time so I get some me time too.
  • HELLZ YES!!!  If they didn't I would go insane!  Actually there are days where they skip them and it's fine but like today..no they had to take one and they are sleeping as I type this!

But that said, I have friends whose kids stopped napping at like 2 and never went back:(

  • Juliana is almost 2 and takes 2-3 hour nap. Some days she'll nap in the morning and in the afternoon right after lunch; other days, she condenses it into 1 long nap. Yes, we look forward to her naps as we get to relax as well. I don't know what we're gonna do once she gives it up.

  • yes, Olivia still takes one nap a day.  anywhere between 90 minutes to 2 hours.  she's sick and today she slept for almost 3 hours.  of course I was at work, so I could not take advantage of said nap.  I so needed a nap.
  • Beckett took a 2-3 hour nap every day reguarly until he turned 3. He's going on 4 now, and does nap at school on the days he is there, but the other 4 days of the week, it is hit or miss. If he is really tired, he will pass out in the late afternoon on the couch, but I can no longer get him to go down for one.

  • haha, Isaiah still naps (at my insistence) and he will be 5 in January.  Honestly, I probably wouldn't have him nap, but they nap at his Pre K program, so I try to keep the same sched on the weekend.  Oh, and there have been nights when he doesn't nap that he's in bed by 6 lol.

  • I thought of something. Once Beckett tunred 2, he became very difficult to get to take a nap. I would have to lay in bed with him and rub his back and keep him quiet and calm until he fell asleep. It would take me almost 30 minutes to get him to go down a lot of days, but that 30 minutes was worth the 3 hours of quiet time for me.

  • Bean is almost 2 and still naps 2+ hours a day. She actually went up to her room and said "Nap time mama" today and went right down. I was in shock.
