Does this sound logical?
I have tons of questions today so prepare yourself for massive posting if time allows. And I know you are tired of my questions about flying with a child. :-)
So I want to fly down and surprise my mom in January for her bday. I can get a flight roundtrip with SW for 108ish per person. Now I will be flying Lyra and she will be just over one. My options:
1. Book 2 tickets, then I have to buy & haul a car seat down and back and through the airport as she will be out of the one I borrowed last time and I don't like using my chicco without it's base and I don't want to take the base.
2. Book 1 ticket, have her sit on my lap 
(take lots of dramamine and pray no puking). Order a car seat and have it shipped to my parents so they can have it when they pick us up. Then it can stay with them for when we visit. Our flights are very short, here to denver (1.5hrs) then denver to OKC (1 hr).
I'm thinking 2 is the best option. She did great flying in Sept. so I'm hoping for the same in January and if she is walking we have enough of a layover for her to burn some energy.

Nah, I bet you could rent one from a car rental place.
I would do #2. Honestly, we flew with DD at that age and she did great. I wouldn't worry too much.
You can get a First Years True Fit today on kidswoot.com for $99. It is an awesome seat! I would buy it, but my husband will kill me if I get another seat.
I would go with #2. When we've flown with B we've always just had her on our laps, and at 1 y.o. I think L would be fine (we've done layovers and stuff, too). Granted, I always had either DH or my parents to help out and pass her around and stuff, though.
I can also see the appeal of using a carseat during the flight, though. On my last flight, I saw a family of 3 and the toddler was in her own carseat, and she was totally content to just sit there and watch a video - generally it's the idea that they understand they have to stay in a carseat and so they're probably more willing to accept that as their fate during the flight

If they lose it than you go to Walmart and buy an inexpensive car seat that they (parents) can keep.

They won't lose your stuff if you gate check it. It's great, then it's all waiting for you the second you step off the plane and onto the little walkway.
If you are going to do #2, I just saw that the Graco MyRide is on sale at Target for $100. You might want to look into that

They may not lose it, but it could get damaged or soaking wet...
At the Omaha airport's lost and found they have NWT carseats that they will give you (I'm not sure about the logistics) if they lose your car seat in transit. I know they also have this in Denver. Maybe call the one down in OKC and see what their policy is-just talk to last and found. If it truly is lost in the long run, you should be able to get it reimbursed.
Re: getting wet/damaged-buy a travel case, line the bottom with duct tape and you're good.
We travel, a lot, both together and just A & I alone. We always buy just adult tickets, check the car seat and stroller at check in and wear Anders in our Boba. Our car seat has survived well, our stroller has some wear, but we also never bought a stroller cover for it.
