Do you like them?
Do you remember when you first had one?
Was this a common thing for you to eat growing up?

Re: Random poll - tuna melts
I'm craving one today, hence the poll.
I like them - love them. Especially open faced on a grainy bread.
The first one i ever remember having was when I was 22 in Glasgow Scotland in October. I was at an internet cafe craving something warm to eat and cheap and it was on the menu. I wasn't sure what it was going to be like but it was delicious!
Obviously it wasn't common in my house since I don't remember eating one before age 22. But I'm curious if other people ate them all the time.

They do not comply with my- cheese and meat do not mix rule.
I'll never have one.
Mmmm, I love them. The bread has to be really grainy and toasted, with a thin layer of mayo/dijon mixed together, then the tuna, some tomato, salt and pepper, topped with sharp cheddar or pepper jack, then put under the broiler until it gets all melty and bubbly.
Omg, now I want one...
pretty much that.
i had a college boyfriend who LOVED macaroni & cheese with a can of tuna. sweet mary, it stunk so bad. blech.
my photography blog
My roommate in college loved Tuna Helper. I used to cringe when I saw the boxes, because I knew the apartment would reek. Those were the days when I would either hide at my BF's or my BFF's. Blech.
never had one.
honestly, i've always thought tuna should be cold and in salad form. anything else, other than sushi doesn't appeal to me.
This. I have a vague idea but only vague. The very thought of canned tuna makes me gag. I can't stand the smell of it long enough to taste it. I do like nice fresh tuna steaks grilled just right though.
Ditto
Ok... so I'm not so weird that I was 22 when I had my first one.
I had mac n cheese with tuna dumped into it for lunch. YUM. Working from home on this gorgeous gorgeous day. And i desperately need to go grocery shopping. I could barely make the mac n cheese because I had a can of fat free evaporated milk in the pantry... that expires this month, lol.
No mayo or miracle whip to make a tuna sammie.
Almond - do you only eat cheese/veggie pizzas? I actually wondered about tuna and cheese because of the meat-and-cheese mixed prohibition by some. And my first thought went to pizza. Then tacos/nachos/fajitas/etc.

Do you like them? I love a good tuna melt
Do you remember when you first had one? not until I was an adult
Was this a common thing for you to eat growing up? nope
OMG, I used to love Tuna Helper. Back in my single days that was my "home cooked" meal of choice...lol. Now with Dh, I'll be lucky if I can get away with bringing can tuna in the house, even to make a sandwich.
This
1) Your sig pic - so cute!!!
2) My old boss (owner of the company) hated the smell of tuna. He would bring his stinky dog to work with him sometimes (she was a wonderful, sweet dog but man he could have given her a bath for everyone else's sake). When my coworker would get ticked off at him she would break out a can of tuna in oil and let the dog lap up the tuna oil. He gave his dog kisses throughout the day so he would get pissed when he went in for one and got a dose of tuna breath! hehehe
I never knew the true art that could be passive aggression until her.

That is too funny!!
Thanks for the compliment. And Maddie is still just as beautiful as ever!
I only like them openfaced with tomato and cheese on bagels. Does anyone remember sleepover friends books from being a kid (similar to baby sitter's club)? They had a recipe in there for tuna bagel melts that made me try it.
ETA: whoa. I searched sleepover friends on amazon and another series popped up with some very graphic covers. apprently sleepover sluts are all about "my best friends _______(dad, brother, etc) and comes up first above the actual title I series I typed in. weird.
Never had one.
We did eat tuna casserole growing up though.
Thank you - she is a little stinker though! ;-)

I LOVE tuna melts.
I caught our oven on fire as a kid (early high school-ish) while trying to make one. I put the second oiece of bread on top and turned the oven to broil. Thank heavens my stepdad answered his phone and told me to use baking soda.
That is really funny. I'm glad that worked out. This post could be taking a whole other turn.

Love them.
Don't remember the first time and I did eat them pretty often.

I flippin' love tuna melts. We had tuna casserole growing up, but my first tuna melt was when I was about 25. There was a place in Sugar Land, close to work, called Victor's Deli. It was served with cheddar cheese on rye bread, buttered and grilled like a grilled cheese sandwich. So good.
I believe my lunch will now be tuna melts!
