I need your creative minds!
Okay, H was talking to his sister last night and apparently the family has an informal poll/bet going on how we will announce the baby's sex to the family. We had planned on making cupcakes or a cake or something, but now I feel the need to do something totally off the wall that no one will ever think up.
So get those creative juices flowing and help me brainstorm ideas, please! We find out next Wednesday, but we're not telling the family until the weekend, so we'll have a couple days to sort everything out.
Re: I need your creative minds!
Hmmm....I'll have to think up some ideas on that one.
You gon' tell us, too? ;-)
Of course, I googled....
Here are some crazy ideas I found (besides the cake one):
1. Tie a big blue or pink ribbon around your belly and post a pic of it on facebook
2. Fill a basket with either Almond Joy or Mounds (one has nuts haha- I think this one is too raunchy for me)
3. Write "its a boy" or "its a girl" on sturdy paper and cut it into a puzzle. Give everyone a piece and see how long they take to figure it out
4. Stick a "Hi my name is ____" on your belly (over or under shirt) if you know what name you want to use...
My goodness, I would never be able to keep this secret long enough to pull it off! haha
I'll tell you all first, like we usually do around here :P You just have to keep it secret until the weekend is over.
Oh, I like that puzzle idea! That's a contender. I think the candy might be too raunchy for me, too.
We want to tell them in person and since they all live over an hour away we think it'll be an easy secret to keep. We might even tell them Friday night, so then it's really just 2 days.
My favorite that I've heard is to fill a box with pink or blue balloons (or a balloon that says It's a ....) and have them open it up.
I wish my family would be excited about us finding out the gender but they are totally against it
Good luck finding the perfect idea!

April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
Because they think it should be a surprise...i.e, when the baby is born. Our look at it is it's a surprise either way!
We are! Great minds think alike

I LOVE the balloon idea!
I've also heard of an easter egg hunt - blue or pink easter eggs hidden in a park or back yard (but this is usually for when people find out in the spring. . .)

You know I won't say squat!
When my mom found out via my aunt in PA that my cousin Marc & his wife were having a baby I tried calling him but refused to say a word on FB because I just don't know who they plan to tell and when, KWIM? I didn't say anything until his wife had the gender posted on her status. I'm getting a new girl 3rd cousin btw.
I also like the balloon idea.
And Mel - my mom is the same way about finding out the gender. She always said "we never found out ahead of time back in the 50s, 60s and 70s so why does it matter now as long as your baby is healthy?" Point taken, but a lot of people like to know how to do the room and buy clothes ahead of time!!!
This is a wonderful idea! I'll totally do this for my family!!
