My kid doesnt sleep.

He used to. He STTN from about 2 weeks until about 3.5 months, now he's up twice a night! Makes for a tired mommy. Tell me this will get better?!

Re: My kid doesnt sleep.

  • If he's anything like my kid, he will go through phases. Until my kid was about a year old, I think he STTN maybe 10 times. After that he did better, but even now, at 20 months, he still goes through phases where he doesn't sleep. Last week he was waking up 3-4 times a night, but the last 3 nights he didn't wake up at all (THANK YOU GOD!). I've tried everything, and I think I've just come to accept that it just is what it is! :)

  • Ugh - we're right there with you.  Granted our little guy never really slept that great (he'd have a couple nights here and there where he'd STTN), and I'm pretty sure we're teething now, so that's not making things any better.

And as much as I want to sttn, I think I'm honestly going to miss our middle of the night cuddle sessions!  That feeling of him snuggling in to me when I pick him up and having that "Ahhhhh...yeah, thanks mom" sigh...I know it's not going to last much longer so I'm trying to eat those moments up now!

  • Ian was doing a couple good 6 hour stints and now it's back to 2-3 hours or every hour (I think he was cold and just wanted to cuddle last night).

I think it's par for the course to go through sleeping phases.  I am dreading our switch over to the crib, he's still in the rock and play right by our bed.  Big procrastinator here and doing things so much different than with Elsie.

Ditto this! DS will be 2 in December and still doesn't always sleep through the night all the time. Last night he was up at 10:00 and thought he needed to be up for the night. Then after finally going back to sleep at 11:00 he was still up 3 other times. The night before I was up 8 flipping times with him! :) On the other hand. DD has always been a great sleeper but did go through a phase around 4 months where she would wake up a few times but quickly grew out of it!

  • Some people talk about a 4month regression... I've been wondering if that's what's going on at our house, too!

B started sleeping from 8-2, then 5, then 8 around 2 months, and then a little before 3 months, he would rarely wake up before 6:30, and if he did, he didn't want to nurse - just wanted his paci or a change of position. The last 4 nights, he's waking up at 2:30, 4:30 (only to cuddle but I can't get him back to sleep without rocking), 6:00, and then yesterday, I was lucky to get him back to sleep until 7:15. Today, he was up and ready for the day at 6:00. I want my sleeper back - I'm tired!

  • Mine is 9 months old and doesn't sleep. Last night she was up from 11-1am and from 12am-1am she was hardcore jumping in her jumper. You would have thought she drank a bottle of mountain dew. Was not tired at all. Then she was up at 5 again then up for good at 8. She just now (noon) went down for a nap. This mama is not getting her beauty sleep at all!

I obviously have no advice because nothing has worked in my house.

Our pedi said that was typical if they were hitting a huge growth spurt. As L did that about a month ago.

  • My kid is up a lot during the night. She eats a ton. I don't get up. co-sleeping. look into it.
