s/o gifts . . . Christmas gifts for LO's
I'm trying to be super organised this year and get all of my Christmas gifts purchased and wrapped {and shipped if needed} within the next few weeks.
Any ideas {that can be easily shipped} for a :
7 year old girl
4 year old boy
and what are you getting your LO's? I've picked out a few books for Milo, and The Sword in the Stone DVD, and I've got some ideas for smaller bits and pieces, but am kind of drawing a blank for his big gift.
TIA!
Re: s/o gifts . . . Christmas gifts for LO's
I'm being a jerk this year and getting my 3 yr old nephew drums--but you probably don't want those in your house
No ideas for gifts for the older kids, sorry LRB.
We're getting D an aquadoodle, a pair of pajamas, a couple of books and a few dvds. His big gift will probably be a Buzz Lightyear or Woody toy from the Toy Story movies. We're trying to keep Christmas inexpensive this year.
I think we're getting M (3 years old) a bicycle as his big gift.
We just got a toy store catalog in the mail today, so I'll let M look through it to choose what he wants and we'll go from there.
I'm looking forward to see what others' are doing.I think DVDs would be good for a 7 year old and they are easy to ship.
MCC, I wanted to get M a drum set for his b-day, my H was the rational parent and said no way! Thank goodness he did.
My nieces who are about the same age love to craft, so I?ve been giving them things like make your own purse kits, paper ball sets, etc. Those are usually pretty easy to ship and even fit in padded mailers, so much cheaper if they have a ways to go. No help on the the little boy, though.
4 year old boy - dress up costumes? (Honestly, I'm at a loss otherwise. I was just talking toa friend today that most of W's toys are very heavy. If I were you, I'd use Amazon and buy direct - save shipping and then buy heavy things if you wanted.)
7 year old girl - Again, I'm stuck, apart from dress up stuff, but she might be too old for that. Unless you go etsy and fin something pretty and girly? Otherwise, if you do something like amazon, what about books (The Ramona series might be age appropriate?)
We're not sure of what we're getting William. I know we're bowing to pressure and buying our first 'branded' thing: Cars 2 on dvd. I think we're buying him a round house for his wooden train track. And some Duplo/Lego (though that's technically from my mum). I wanted to buy him a fab Play Mobil garage//mechanics set I saw on ebay, but I'm worried about small parts nad Matilda. Otherwise, we're with you: a few books, small cars...
We thought about a bike, but we're leaving that as a non-Christmas/non-birthday gift at Easter, timed hopefully to not cause frustration and get the best of hte British summer!
Does Milo have a scooter? They seem really popular here. What about an easle (sp) ?
Right? It seems like every child we see on the school run has one. Milo doesn't, and Matt mentioned getting him one, but he already has a trike that he still uses and a balance bike, so it just seems a bit excessive, you know? I'd not thought about an easel, that's a good idea - he's been so into drawing lately. Thanks!
My 5 and 8 year old nephews are very into books, board games and legos.
Finn is really into legos right now as well. We are going to get him more books, and maybe a bike. He has way too many toys now and doesn't need anything else but we can't not get him anything, especially as he already is picking out stuff to ask Santa for.
M loves his easel. It's been one of his most useful and longest lasting toys ever. It has one magnetic side with the magnetic letters and numbers, the other side is a chalk board and above that is a roll of paper for drawing.
Does the 7 yr old girl like to read? THe Junie B books and the Wimpy Kid books are all very popular now with that age group. I can find out some other series if you want from my sister who has boys that age. I think books are not very gender specific yet at 7.
For the 4 year old hmmm I haven't settled on anything big for Bruce yet. He's got too many toys as it is and doesn't love any of them. He's really into board games and things like that now. He LOVES the cranium one for little kids, balloon lagoon, and checkers, scrabble junior, trouble, bingo, zingo.. there are tons. Oh and the Busytown game is great for this age, too.
Please bare in mind that some of these will be James' birthday or Christmas presents because his birthday is 5 days before Christmas and we only divide his presents the night before his birthday. Although from Santa he has asked for an Octopod so he will be getting that for Christmas. I have a V-Tech camera, 400 piece Lego box, a Giant art set and a Hot Wheels set packed away at the moment. I also plan on getting another GUP (I think GUP
and then he will have all the GUP's from Octonauts and also the Octonauts DVD, some Playmobil sets, a Fireman Sam set and characters, a Scooby Doo playset, a Hungry Hippo's board game (and maybe one other board game), a Leapfrog Scribble and Write, some Helen Cooper books and an annual pass to the Oceanarium. He will also get some cars, puzzles and smaller toys for his stocking.
My suggestion for the 4 year old would be a Playmobil Travel Set. James has one and loves it. Great imagination toy.
For the 7 year old, what about a board game like Junior Trival Pursuit? I remember loving mine when I was about that age.
Here is the link to the Playmobil one that James has - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.208-8039.aspx - next week Thursday Sainsburys will be selling them for ?5. But the pieces are tiny, my house is no longer baby safe. I am going to have a look at which Hot Wheels James has, I bought it in January and have forgotten which one it is.
This is our problem to. I am totally stuck on what to get him this year. Esp. with his birthday in November. My parents are getting him a Wii for his birthday - talk about a big gift, it's really generous of them and he will love it. But I feel like nothing we do will top it, not that it really has to. I have NO Santa ideas at all.
