Larrysdarling

How's your daughter doing with the formula / combo feeding?

Re: Larrysdarling

  • Thanks for asking. We may be turning a corner, hopefully.

So far we've tried enfamil and Similac RTF. She has cringed and spit out every.single.drop of formula I've given her. I tried every day for a week or so and she refused it. Oh and never refuses anything - the other night she even ate coleslaw!

So I stopped offering it. I upped the solids and dropped a bottle at daycare. I'm sending about 10-12 oz of milk with her daily.

Then out of the blue, I went to pick her up at dc and they said she had a two oz bottle of formula as her last bottle! She ate it all, I only sent 2 oz b/c it was just supposed to be a snack and to get her used to the taste.

    I am cautiously optimistic.

If it doesn't work, her pedi said to just send what I pump and enough solids and she'll be fine. If it does work, I'm packing this shiit up for good and filing it away til the next kiddo.

PS. I'm writing this as I pump at work with a nice milk blister on my nipple. I can't wait to pack away this pump!

     Thanks again for asking.

OMG the blisters were the worst. After we found out that D was tongue tied, the LC told me to pump, pump, pump it up like crazy so that I could build up my supply. Since D wasn't able to suck correctly, she wasn't getting enough and it was like I was weaning to stop bf on purpose. They told me to pump every 1.5 hours for 10/15 mins. Even if I didn't get too much, I still needed to stimulate the b00bs. It was awful and I had such painful blisters. I would just sit there with tears streaming down my face. Pumping (for me at least) is no fun at all.  I give EPers so much credit.

  • It's so painful. It hurts worse when she eats directly from it though b/c her suction is unbelievably strong. I'm considering lancing it but I'm afraid of getting an infection. I think I might just let it go.
