Re: UO Thursday
I love the OWS movement. I don't agree with everything they're about (mostly forgiving student loan and CC debt - that would be a nightmare. But I do think college should be more affordable. Anyway), but I love that pissed off people are standing up and being heard. I get sad when people make fun of them.
Aaaannnd, I would love to go down to the Occupy OKC protest downtown, but I'm kind of chickenshiit.
I am torn on the OWS (and O-insert-city-here) protests. While I think some people have legitimate concerns and reasons for protesting, I honestly think some of the people are just lazy and don't want to pay their debts. I'm sorry, but if you can't manage your money, that's your problem and no one else's. So I can't fully get behind it, even though I do think it was started for the right reasons.
No other UOs here really.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
I know of it, but I haven't really read much on it. I get what they are trying to do, but it's been going on for weeks now, so I don't sit and read about it every day.
A friend of mine, who is an attorney, walked through Kerr Park a few days ago wearing a suit, and for that simple fact, the people booed at him. When he walked through another time in a t-shirt and jeans, they ignored him. A suit =/= the problem, people.
Forgiving student loan debt is a HORRIBLE idea and to take it a step further - it should NEVER be forgiven EVER not even at death. It is already not forgiven in bankruptcy but it should never, ever, ever be forgiven. The Government cannot continue to loan out money to people and not see a dime of it in return.
How might you enforce this debt after death?
Just the same as you enforce any other debts after death. Very easy process. Force it to be deducted from the estate first so the government gets paid before anyone else.
I didn't know about it until I heard Dave Ramsey talking about it on his show. Other than on here, that is all I've heard/seen about it too.
