At the airport I was randomly selected for a TSA pat down/hand swab for explosives. And this after making sure I wouldn't have anything that would set the detectors off......

Re: Lucky me!
Did they get too personal?
I seriously love living here. They can even scan bottles here so I can take water from my house and onto the plane without having to throw it away.

FTW.
That's one great thing about having a baby - when I travel I can't be selected for the backscatter X-ray/enhanced pat down.
When we went to Canada for our honeymoon, I got pulled to the side at the ID card station and asked extra questions, they pulled all my stuff off the line after the carry-on scanner and hand rummaged it, I went through the scanner and then they hand patted me down, and then we went through customs. It was horrible. My husband just kept saying, "What'd you do?!" And all I could do was glare at him. They somehow marked my ticket at the check-in counter and I got flagged the entire way through. It sucked.
Mary- I make it to second base every time I travel. It sort of makes it fun. HAAA!!!!!
That reminds me, if I fly anywhere this holiday season, I'm going to have wadded up damp Kleenex in every pocket, and awkward items at the top of my suitcase. Just to reward them if they decide to get curious.
I've never had to do a pat-down or anything, but I've had my luggage searched.
It kinda sucks to get the extra checks, but it's a part of travel these days.
I've had a couple trips where I was flagged for extra checks at every security point - it was international, so I got extra security at the first airport, as well as at the second airport (after clearing that country's passport control) and then again after clearing customs again in the US. Whee...
I also got to fly into the US a couple weeks after the underpants bomber. No carryon bags allowed - small personal item alone (unless there was medical need), and _everything_ was handsearched, including me.
