Clicky Poll: China (the dishes, not the country)
Re: Clicky Poll: China (the dishes, not the country)
my photography blog
I voted 1 - 2 times per year because that's how often we use them for a meal. Thanksgiving & Christmas every year. We have also used them in the past for New Years, Valentine's, and Easter, but we don't normally host those.
But I use certain pieces very regularly. I use my china teacups & saucer anytime I drink tea or hot chocolate at home. I use the serving dishes & random plates/bowls anytime I entertain & need more serving platters.
I also will randomly pull out my Granny's china to eat off when I'm missing her.
Seeing as we've only got 2 place settings I've never ever used it.
It's still in the packaging.
Do you think I can still return it to dillard's? It has the yellow tags on it...
XH and I never used our china while we were married, and my grandparents bought us EVERYTHING, so I feel badly that I don't really want it anymore. FI likes it though and has no problem with us reusing it, so once we get a dining room table and start hosting holiday dinners we'll use it, For now, it just sits in the original packaging.
We use ours for holidays too. Or a rare/occasional romantic dinner.
But like Jax we have fiesta ware and that gets used even when company comes over. However we have only 1 setting per color. So our table is always very colorful and it's fun to purposefully NOT have matching bread plates. =D Your plate could be salmon, red, maroon, yellow, shamrock green, turquoise, navy, baby blue, periwinkle eggplant/purple, or orange. =D

I have 14 place settings and have never used them in the 6 years I have owned it.

I read this last night on my iPad and never responded because I got so sidetracked and wrapped up in looking at my casual china collection (and everything else they make to go with it) for an hour. Haha!
BTW, I voted for 'didn't register for any' because we only registered for everyday ware (Strawberry Street stuff) and casual china (Waterford Grafton street collection). No fine china in our household. We use both sets of dishes that we have regularly.
Honestly, I don't know that we have "ever" used it (married 6 years, now!). Maybe we did once for a dinner for 2 at home or something, but usually if we host an event, there are too many people for our 12 place settings, so we are likley just using paper plates.
However, I don't regret registering for/getting it. I still really like our pattern, and we also have a portion of my grandmother's set sitting side by side ours in the china cabinet.
I really never think to use it, but I really should more often if we have guests. Some of our everyday plates have chips, etc, and I am sure that is not enticing! (Of course, they discontinued our everyday set at BBB, so i can't even replace the pieces. :-/ and we don't really want to switch out to a whole new line)
i am guessing scanning the yellow tag will show that it was bought years ago, so maybe not so much. :-/
We registered for a lovely, reasonably priced set of formal china because my mom nagged me until I gave in. I figured if I was going to register for it I wanted something we'd get full place settings of (my #1 choice was an expensive Wedgwood set.)
That said, we have NEVER used it. I wish we'd registered for some good everyday china instead as I've been shopping for some because we need it now.,
The yellow tag will show that it was bought longer ago than the return period allows. (I used to work at Dillards). A manager would be needed to approve the return & I highly doubt that they would in this case.
