Daycare help - where to start?
With 4 weeks to go until baby JRM arrives, I'm hoping to start scouting out places. A google search tells me there's a few in my area. What questions does one ask? What did you look for?
And if anyone has a recommendation (or place to avoid) in the greater Fort Washington area, that would be swell too.
Re: Daycare help - where to start?
A friend of mine and her SIL have had good experiences at the daycares associated with both abington and holy redeemer hospitals--is that at all convenient for you? Im only semi-familiar with that area so Im not sure how close that is to Ft Washington.
You can find a lot of question lists online but my big ticket items were (1) cost and what is included in that cost (holidays they are closed, do you pay when youre on vacation, how often do they increase rates etc). (2) security (3) cleanliness (4) cirriculum and discipline for older infants/toddlers (5) safety of outdoor play area (6) credentials of staff.
There should also be a website of all the accredited daycares in pa online.

Here's a list of daycares.
All the things the OP said ... most importantly .. go with your gut. If it doesn't feel right for whatever reason.. walk away.
Good luck on your search.
Ive heard great things about Malvern School too, from friends that go to all different locations, all of them love it. I dont know if there are any close to you, but if so, it might be worth the visit despite the price. Peace of mind is worth $$$$$$!
