Ice breaker ideas

Ok, so one of my mini projects at work is to come up with 2 ice breakers and we're trying to think of ones that are a bit more unique.  They're not supposed to be very detailed ice breakers and it's for a group of about 30-35 people (mainly managers) who all pretty much know each other.  I'm curious what ideas are out there?  Also, if there's one where one part of the ice breaker can be done on one day (evening, really) and then that somehow leads into the second part the next day (morning) that would be awesome.

Re: Ice breaker ideas

  • We did this once in a class in college and it took a while but it was fun.

You have everyone sit in a circle and you start tossing a ball around. Whoever catches the ball has to say one thing about them that is not well known, something that doesn't come up in every day conversation. (Like you can't say, I'm married, I have kids, I live in Ballard, etc... It needs to be something like I'm a certified scuba diver, I can imitate Scooby Doo perfectly, I have 11 toes, etc...) Then as soon as they're done they throw the ball in another direction for someone else to catch and repeat till everyone's been picked.

Then, I suppose for the second day, you can have someone recording all of these things while they're being said, and then quiz people the next day. Then whoever remembers the most wins.

Hmm, that might be a good idea.  It's kind of along the lines of what we were thinking (e.g quiz of random facts about people to guess).

I need to come up with a few different ideas and all the ones I'm finding online suck. Stick out tongue

  • I've always like "Two Truths and a Lie"....It's pretty simple....not sure how you could make it into two days though, unless you did half the people on one day and half on the other day.

Basically, each person writes down two true things about themselves and one thing that is a lie and then shares it out and the audience has to guess which is a lie. I like to pick unique things like UW said so that it is harder to pick out the lie. Like once I did...

In my BA, I majored in Social Work (this was for a class in my Masters program for teaching)

My H is 7 years older than me

I have 3 cats and 4 dogs.  (This was the lie)....but realistically they all could have very easily been lies. I like to make it tricky like that. It can be a lot of fun, and then you learn more than just one thing about each person.
