What's on your holiday wish-list this year?

My mom is asking for my Christmas list already and I'm drawing a blank. Other than the $200 Kelly Moore MiMi camera bag I want.

Maybe your lists will help me think of something....what do you hope is under the Christmas tree this year?

Re: What's on your holiday wish-list this year?

  • I realllyyyy want a pair of Dou Boots (special order) b/c I've given up on flat leather boots to fit my calves.

Realistically, a new leather handbag, preferably crossbody.

We don't do much for Christmas, especially as we tend to shop for ourselves in a couple of big spurts a year.

  • I really want a nice camera.

I'll probably ask my in-laws for a setting of my wedding china, I almost have enough place settings.  I need to figure out some things because I know my mom will be asking soon.  If I got nothing else but the camera I would be happy.

  • I have quite the list haha. But most of it I will probably just buy myself a bit at a time.

    Outlander series in hardcover
    Harry Potter series in hardcover
    Harry Potter BlueRays
    Dyson Pet Vac
    another zoo membership

(If I got the pet vac and the zoo membership I would be thrilled!) But to be honest I may be buying the pet vac on Black Friday if I can find a good enough deal on it.

  • Nothing specific. I always have trouble coming up with a list.

I really want to replace our camera. I hate that thing. It's a Canon Powershot SD1000 and it takes shitty indoor/low light pictures. The outdoor ones are fine, but nothing special. And it takes forever to focus. Arg. It has good reviews, which I'm surprised at. Maybe I just expect too much from a P&S. I think it was a lower level model (DH said it wasn't very expensive) so that could also be why.

  • So far I've decided I want a nice work/laptop bag (I have an orange one picked out that I am drooling over), the Harry Potter Blu-Ray series (released in November I think), and the Outlander books in hardcover.

  • Since I probably won't be working and money will be tight, I won't ask for much this year...but my ILs always ask for a list and I really think what I will want will be some new clothes so I will probably ask for some GCs to like Old Navy or something.

My MIL likes to buy me clothes but always gets me a freaking Medium. In what world am I a Medium in ANYTHING???

That's the one we have, too. I was not as impressed as it as I thought I should have been from the reviews. But, I think it's mostly because I compare my pictures to those of everyone here that has DSLRs. I really want a DSLR, but I think I'll wait until we are expecting. It's not something I could realistically ask for as a gift anyway.

We have a compact DSLR  - kind of mid-priced between a P&S and a true DSLR but still takes nice pictures, has options AND it fits in my purse. I'd like a fancier one but I am not good enough at the manual settings to consider it anyway so this is good for now.

  • Diamond earrings (It's a constant on my list, I figure one of these days it could happen right?)

    Kindle touch- no ads

And that's about it...I'm sure my mom will get me a GC to somewhere for clothes and my ILs always come up with some electronic gadget that I don't really need, but maybe DH and I will get a bigger combined gift from them this year.

I really want vacations more than stuff.  Luckily my Napa trip should be coming in January or February as long as we can find an acceptable dog-sitter or kennel for Oscar by then.

ETA: A nice lounge chair for the pool!  I forgot, I think that's probably near the top of my list of things I really want this year.  Also, I'm sure with the move I'll come up with all sorts of decorating things that I want/need.

    or maybe a baby?

  • I'm having a hard time thinking of things that aren't baby-related (because I know both moms will ask!)

I might ask for a Kindle (if Tim doesn't want one for himself) because I figure reading with a newborn around will be easier if I can do it one-handed.

the Nook (I got it over the kindle since some libraries do lending, though I haven't actively looked into this)  has been awesome for this. If you make the font big you can also prop it up and just touch it to change the page Stick out tongue

Kindle now also does library loaning. I have to say that thanks to Jeff getting me my Kindle last year my reading quantity has sky rocketted! I am on book # 47 for the year. It is amazing. I take it everywhere I go.

This is how I was last year.  I got a Kindle from FIL and loved having it.  It was perfect for when I was pumping.  Much better then staring at a wall.  LOL  Now they have so many more choices too.  And cheaper prices!

  • There are probably lots of things I could think of that I WANT, but we are really on a tight budget with me still being part time and it now going into winter for Larry.  Because of that I don't want lots of gifts because I can't recipricate.

I will probably ask for gift cards to clothing stores (I always get an Old Navy one) and maybe even to the grocery store!  Lame I know, but then we have the money for other stuff.  I am just excited for Lucas to enjoy it.

  • I might start researching a new lens for the camera.

My parents go crazy on us every year, but I think they might have a hard time this year since there isn't anything left that we really need.  Then again, Dad surprised us with all the stuff for ice fishing last year so he always comes up with something.

I should also pick out a nice camera bag, it's been on my 'eventual list' for a year now.

That's what I have too and I really like mine. I've had it for over 4 years and am always impressed with the photos it takes. It's a Nikon P5000. I bet there's a newer version of it now, but it's pretty sweet. You can still adjust ISO, shutter and apperture settings but it still has all the scene modes and is small too. Even when I do get a DSLR I'll still use this one too.
