Re: NCR: Favorite Chili Recipe?
This one is the BOMB!!
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/smokin-scovilles-turkey-chili/detail.aspx
btw...I have made it with beef before also and it's still wonderful! It's not like most turkey chili recipes that are a white sauce type one. this is just like regular chili but made with turkey
Pioneer womans tastes like wendys only thicker and better
haha, I just posted this for someone on my local! This is my favorite- Texas Style (beef no beans) Spicy Chili
2lbs lean ground beef (I use 93/7)1 yellow onion, chopped1 can tomato paste1 can beef broth (I use Campbell's extra strength)2 T. olive oil3 cloves garlic, crushed6 T. chili powder2 T. cumin6 T. paprika3 T. red pepper flakes1 T. oregano1 T. brown sugar1 t. salt1 t. black pepper2 cubes beef bullion, crushed
Combine spices, bullion, and sugar in a bowl.
Cook onion and garlic in skillet until onions are translucent (6-7 min).Brown beef in pan with onions and garlic. Doesn't need to be 100% cooked, but mostly browned. Drain extra oil/ grease.
Then, dump spice bowl into beef/ onion/ garlic skillet and cook for 2 min.Pour entire contents of skillet into crock pot, add beef broth and tomato paste, stir.Cook for 8-10 hours on low.
Serve with cornbread (I make a sweeter southern style to balance out the spice)
Stand up for something you believe in.

You all are the BEST! DH loves chili and I can't wait to try some of your recipes--thanks for sharing.
BTW, dumba$$ me will now go edit the spelling in my first post. Sigh...I really should not try to nest when LA is "helping" me type. Apparently I cannot swat little hands away from the keyboard and spell at the same time.

We made chili for the first time tonight! And holy crap w/ the cold! I'm glad I worked in the Reptile Building today where its nice and toasty.
ETA: I just dumped stuff into the pot. Kidney beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, veggie crumbles (boca), chili powder and a chili mix packet.
I'm planning on making Pumpkin Chili at some point too. mmmmm....

Right! And I keep bringing up the fact that one year, I distinctly remember trick-or-treating when it was snowing in Georgia. No one herre believes me and we're about 2 hrs away! But I talked about it w/ my mom and she remembers that too. I don't remember what year it was, but it was Halloween and it was snowing! (and yes in Georgia flurries=snow)

AMEN! People do not understand that it is a CRISIS when flurries fall from the sky--time to rush the grocery stores!
But honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way!

lol. This is really why Northerners visit in the winter. We like to laugh at your snow preparation and wear shorts and t-shirts while you are all in parkas. Makes us feel better about choosing to freeze our butts off the rest of the winter.
Laugh all you want! I don't even own a snow shovel!
