My "Dark Line" Freakout...

Now you all have me freaked out that it could be twins...seriously. I need to stop having so much anxiety. Also, I have had light cramping for three days, and it is making me feel like my period could start any moment and this is all just a dream...I need a quiet weekend to bring myself down a notch! Jeff said he is even trying so hard to not get overly excited in case it doesn't stick.

Re: My "Dark Line" Freakout...

  • I don't know anything about a dark line meaning twins, just a strong pregnancy! My line was super dark and showed up before the control line and I've checked 2 times, there's only one in there :P

When is your first appointment? Do you have to do bloodwork or get an early ultrasound?

  • No freaking out. Drink lots of water! It was probably really dark just because the hormones were really concentrated. We'll all be here thinking good thoughts and sending sticky vibes!
  • don't panic about the cramping (unless you are like red bleeding) - i cramped a fair shake the 4th thru prob 6th week - think of it as lil guy snuggling in to make a spot for himself!

Ditto this exactly!  Just try and relax and keep the faith!  I know easier said then done!

  • Yeah, I had cramping up until a few weeks ago (still feel some twinges occasionally)... that's totally normal! I know it is so tough in the beginning to believe it's real since the only evidence you have is a positive test. Heck, I've had 5 ultrasounds, heard the heartbeat as recently as yesterday, and can't button any of my pants anymore, and I still don't believe it!

As far as the line darkness, I don't think that really means much. My line was about that dark at 16 DPO for me, so if you ovulated early (you said you have short cycles, right?) you'd be right there. Although I would personally be stoked if you ended up with twins; of course, I'm not the one that would have to raise them!

From what I see on my BMB just about everyone feels the same anxieties you are feeling, so that is perfectly normal!

  • Yea, I know the cramping is "normal"...just trying hard to make the pessimistic side of my brain realize that. I have had no spotting at all, so it is just all worries going on in that crazy mind of mine! Hahah!

I don't have an appointment until Nov 14, where they said they will do an ultrasound at and all the marbles. Thank you ladies for the support though. Like Lori said, after it takes so long, it is just so hard to believe it is true! I am really thinking of waiting until Christmas to tell everyone. I would be a little over 13 weeks, and I know 12 is when it is okay to spread the word, but I just wanted to do it at Christmas because all of my family will be at our house. Now, just keeping Jeff's mouth shut until then is the hard part. Especially because he and my mom work at the same place, so he can't even say a word to any co-workers! It will be the hardest to not tell my sisters...but, I like the idea of Jeff and I having this little secret between us! : ) Well...except of course you ladies...Te-He!

  • I'm pretty sure having someone open up auntie/grandma/grandpa/uncle/cousin coffee mug/t-shirts/picture frame or something like that would be an awesome way to announce at Christmas!
  • That is exactly what we are doing for his side. All of his side is down in Texas, so in their Christmas presents I will include a Grandma coffee mug for his mom with an ultrasound photo inside! : ) I may have to spill the beans to Jeff's step-dad, though, to make sure she doesn't open it until Christmas morning! : )

  • What I thought about doing with my family is have my nieces color on pages with bubble letters saying "Baby M" and "June 28, 2012" : ) See, this is what I mean about letting myself get too excited! Hahah!

  • Danie, I understand your trepidation & I know I would (hopefully will) be the same way. I'm just so stinkin' excited for you!

In the meantime here's some sticky baby dust for you! Wink

  • Yah, I'm no help with the dark line freakout, as I did start off with two sacs through 6 weeks, but just wanted to ditto all the stuff about cramping being about LO setting up shop, so to speak.  I found it a comfort, though of course it made me check in the bathroom constantly... I blew through all the rest of my leftover pregnancy tests (and I think even bought some more dollar store ones) and temped for a few more weeks (I do not recommend this however, it tells you NOTHING and the normal fluctuations can freak you out) because I still didn't believe.

But oh what a joy this is.... so freaking psyched for you... enjoy it ALL (even the parts that make you feel neurotic)!

  • Lots of vibes for stickiness!  :)

On another note though, what does a faint line mean?  Not for me, but I have a friend who needs some peace of mind that hers is a BFN.

  • i think any double line means a positive test...have her test again, though.

  • Yes, she tested 3 times and they came out positive.  It's a bit of a shocker since her child is almost raised (goes to school with SD) but if it's a true BFP she believes it's a definite gift from God.
