This is shocking but yet.... not. He was creepy. And I found the way he talked about his son odd too. There was just something "off" about it - I remember both DH and I commenting on it.

If I'm thinking of the right person, I always got the impression he had no custody of him.
Well, that's pretty disgusting, although the article is very vague on whether he intended to send those images or if he just 'viewed' them in the course of looking for other porn and they were then downloaded from his cache by the investigators via Limewire.
I got the impression his wife was a mail order bride, not sure why, but from the way he talked about her, that was just my guess. And doesn't his son live with her in another country?
I found him creepy and disturbing when talking about his son, so I can't say this is a HUGE surprise. He just didn't seem right.
Limewire and other file sharing services are perhaps the most popular way this material is shared. Usually law enforcement targets those where there is the most activity whether it is uploads or downloads since there are so many people who actually look at this material. There is a map that actually shows you how fast these images are distributed once they are uploaded to a site such as this one. It is incredibly disturbing, but it helps law enforcement or the FBI find the hot spots where the most "sharing" is being done. My guess and only a guess is that there may have only been three images that time, but there was something that tipped the authorities off to look at his activity to begin with and that might have been other images or something at an earlier time.
