Grrr! Mother f-ing DC DMV!

I was just checking my credit report, and it said I had an account in collections with the DC govt. So I called the number, it's an unpaid parking ticket from 2010, my old DC car tags, on an Audi. Um, I moved to Maryland in 2004 and my car (not an Audi) has been registered here ever since.

So now i guess I get to fight with the DMV to get this taken care of so I can get it removed from my freaking credit report. This is especially awesome timing since we want to try to refi and I can't have this hanging out there. Stick out tongue

  • thanks. after getting hung up on the first call, the second lady told me i never turned my tags in. um, yes i did. so now i have to go to a dmv to get a vehicle history report showing when i had the tags they was registered to a hyundai, not an audi. and then take that report to another office to see if they'll let me dispute the ticket still.

wtf. and i could kick myself for not holding on to the damn receipt for turning the tags in. who would have thought i'd need it 6 years later!

  • Ugh, so some cop writes a license plate down wrong and YOU get to have the hassle of proving that?  Nice.

  • This same kind of situation happened to my H 2 years ago. At the time, his car rarely even drove THROUGH DC and it would be unusual for him to park there. One day, he received a letter about a parking ticket that was overdue. The tags were right, the car was wrong and it was for a time when he was at work in virginia. He tried to dispute it but that didn't really work... I don't remember if he just gave in and paid it or what else he might have tried.
