Where can I find some barstools?

I know there are tons of choices online, but I really want to check them out in person.  I've looked at: Peters Billiards, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Room and Board, JC Penneys, Macys, HOM, Target, Kohls, Schneidermans and Homegoods.  Of course I've found some I like, but I don't want to spend $500 a chair.  Any other suggestions?  I want something that is going to last awhile, is comfy, and isn't made out of cheap materials.  TIA!

Re: Where can I find some barstools?

  • I got mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, on sale with coupons. I've had them for a few years and still really like them. They are black (steel?) with tan microfiber cushions.
  • We got ours off of overstock.com, so that doesnt help you much... They were nice leather ones that swivel (they are called leather swivel barstools). They are super comfortable and look nicer than anything we saw in person and was in our price range. At the time we paid $271.97/chair minus whatever the discount was at the time. However they are going for $243.99/chair now. Don't rule out online if you want a good deal. Just read the reviews and you should be able to determine if it's a good product or not.

We got some that sound pretty close to this at Target.  I think they were about $50.

  • I was just at JcPenny's today and they had some on sale for $99. I know you said you looked there. But they looked nice.

  • I saw one at Kohl's yesterday that looked nice. It was wrought iron with a leather looking seat and swiveled. They were ~$200/each but I think the special was buy one get one for $1 and you could get the extra 15-30% off right now if you have a Kohls charge. We got ours at Costco 8+ years ago and they have been awesome. Super durable, swivel, with backs and arms for around $100 each.

  • Check with some of the restaurant supply stores...  The nice thing about that option is that they're meant to take a beating...

  • Thanks for the recs!  We actually found a place called the "Stool Store" in Bloomington. We found stools where we could pick the fabric and metal, so they are exactly what I wanted.
