where do i even begin to start looking for jobs in SC?

My husband and I moved to Columbia from Germany last week.

I  used to work in London and New York as an Art Dealer specializing in Contemporary photography but took a 2 year break to be with my soldier husband in Germany.

well now we are in Columbia and i already know its very unlikely i can get back into the Photography gallery field but would love an executive assistant /secretarial/pa/ role in a creative company - i just have no idea where to even begin looking.

Can anyone suggest good websites to look at and advise me on my best chance of networking here in the US ?

  • indeed.com, Univeristy of South Carolina's HR, careerbuilder, local newspaper classifieds.  As far as networking there is linkedin...

  • Indeed.com for sure. Also check the county/city websites for government jobs.

To network- join some organizations... Jaycee's, Junior League, Young Professionals Organization (check with the Chamber of Commerce), MeetUp, Newcomer's Clubs, etc. Are there groups for military spouses in your area? Don't forget about the neighbors and networking with them.

  • I'd start with USC and see what they have to offer. PP mentioned the usual spots for job postings.

Check with the base's FMEAP office.
