What a week. My "work dad" had a heart attack on Wednesday. He is okay, thank goodness, but it's just been a stressful week all around particularly worrying about him!! Today promises to be a full on sh!tshow at work, but oh well, it will be over soon. What's everyone up to this weekend?
Re: TGIF!!
Tonight: Most likely working in the house. We hammered out one room yesterday and I want to get more done this weekend.
Tomorrow: Visiting "work dad" if he's up to it, then going to a memorial service for my high school friend who passed away a couple of weeks ago. Probably have our usual quiet night in with my loves.
Sunday: More house stuff, I think. Matt has set me on a mission to get it done because I've been all grouchy about feeling like the boxes will never be unpacked.
Hope your weekend is a little less stressful Interrobang. Goodness, you've been through a lot.
My weekend, umm yup sitting in bed. I am trying to work on getting my calf muscle to fire. It's a little nerve wracking (literally) because everything else seems to be doing well, but my calf wont flex at all and I have the most horrible bruise all along my shin. Dr's out of town of course and they said they'd take me, but wouldn't do anything so not going to bother driving up to Portland.
Tonight: Naya's Trance is performing at the Press Herald's "Dash of Diva: Girls' Night Out" event, so I'll be at the Holiday Inn tonight. I have to run out of the office a little before 5 to get James, run home, do hair and make-up, throw costumes etc in a bag, and zip back to downtown in hopes of being there around 6ish. Yikes. We perform at 7:30 and 9 (I think) that's my night. (I'm wearing false eyelashes in the office now since I won't have time for them when I get home- I kind of feel like a freak.)
Tomorrow: The plan is to head down to Kennebunk to check out their Harvest Fest. DH is less than impressed with the idea of mediocre vendors, mediocre music, pumpkin decorating, and a hayride, but it's not for us, it's for James. I hope it will be a good time. DH wants to try to check out a local league rugby game that starts at 1- we'll see when we get back north and how tired James is. Saturday night will be mellow.
Sunday: Working on prepping the house for next week's Halloween party! I plan to clean, decorate, and *maybe* carve one or two of our pumpkins if I think they'll keep. I need to get DH to handle the yard and hosing the spiders out of the kiddie equipment. Otherwise we'll have loaded nachos and watch football in our spare time.
PS- Don't forget to RSVP for the party! It's a week away and I'll need to do final menu prep to make sure there's enough goodies for everyone!
Today: Turning 30! Relaxing and having a birthday dinner with DH, Eli and my mom. She's picking up yummy cupcakes from a local bakery- can't wait!
Tomorrow: Hopefully a low key family day, then a "surprise" birthday party that DH is throwing for me. He knows I know about it though. Should be fun!
Sunday: Morning at home, then working- yuck! We have a big accreditation visit happening at school next week, so we have to be there from 2-6 on Sunday for a welcome thing. Not cool.
Tonight: laying low
Tomorrow: family day and relaxing
Sunday: hanging out with the boys in the morning, then going to work for the accreditation
Jackie - I hope your weekend is much easier than your week was!
SBTibbs - Happy 30th!!!
Tonight: now that Matt's finals are out of the way, cooking a nice dinner with good china and crystal to celebrate the end of an intense week.
Tomorrow: Since new classes don't start until Monday, Matt has free time this weekend. Yay! We'll go to a fall festival or do one of the Civil War anniversary events in the area (huge thing around here right now). I'm worried the whole year will go by and we won't have done any of them! Then we'll use a groupon to go out for Indian, yummy.
Sunday: Maybe do a little work on the kitchen. Once the semester started, we had to put all the housework on hold. Also, I want to bake an apple pie.
Hooray for weekends!
Today: Just got back from my first MOMs of Mandeville meeting, very cool group of moms and kids! I met out playgroup coordinator, as well as a couple others from Will's age group and they seem great- our leader is from Spain and there is a mom from Germany, very cosmopolitan. Ky is home today, so he promised to make rolls and I'm going to make a big ol' pot of Hungarian Mushroom Soup and get the guest bedroom/office organized- last piece of the house! Tonight we'll probably go for a walk on the trails and relax, maybe grab a movie.
Saturday: Kyle has his hunter's safety course this weekend, so it'll pretty much just be Lovie & me hanging out. I think we'll hit the farmer's market- there's an awesome couple there that make fresh Vietnamese spring rolls and Pho, which I have a craving for. It's been cool down here (low 60s) so I've been dying to make braised beef short ribs with parmesan polenta.
Sunday: Kyle has a half day of safety class and then maybe a trip to the National Park down the road? We keep meaning to hit them up, but haven't made it yet. Probably tinker around with my plants in the AM and maybe have brunch on the back porch.

Bummer we won't see you there... I'll keep my eyes peeled for the other half and small pint. Any ideas where we'll be able to park? We aren't familiar with the area, so it could really cause the trip to start off badly if we're driving around aimlessly looking for parking- DH gets really pissy about things like that and it can ruin an event real fast.
Thanks!! Me neither! I usually plan smaller parties/dinner for DH's birthday, so I told him on my birthday last year that I would like a party this year. Kind of surprised that he came through! Should be pretty low key, but fun!
Took today off! Yay! Went to Target and lunch with DH and picked up Taylor early. Headed to spend the night at Katahdin Ironworks. used to go allll the time when I was in high school. Looking forward to reliving memories
Tomorrow...going for a hike along Gulf Hagus. Won't be much since I'll have T in a backpack but some physical movement is better than none! Probably stopping and visiting my mom on the way home.
Sunday....sleeping and groceries
Oh, I totally understand
It's always hard b/c they have been changing where vendors park b/c but the big spots, besides alongside the road are Garden St. parking lot, Lafyette bldg parking lot (intersection of Storer St and Berry Ct) ,Park St and Grove St ( Parking turns into Grove St and ends up right behind the farmers market and Kennebunk Inn where you can park) There is also a parking lot across from Dairy Queen on Rt 1 (it's past the bridge on your right) The police try and do a good job of limiting "No Parking" on the streets and they are well marked with bright signs during events like these.
DD and DH should be easy to spot. Well, the 6'5" half of them at least :P
Today: Job shadowing day 2 at the Portland campus of a pretty cool daycare/enrichment center that I am hoping to get a position in, for myself and Delia. It went well but when I arrived none of the teachers knew I was coming, so they seemed a little uncertain with my presence. So for the two hours I was asked to be there, Delia and I went from room to room hanging out with the kids and talking with the teachers. The last I heard from the directors via email is they will make a final decision after my shadowing. Which is a little confusing since none of them were present for my shadowing at either campus today or yesterday. So despite that bit of uncertainty, I really do like the two centers, the teachers are all really laid back and the environment is super positive. Delia seemed to enjoy herself too. She is wiped out after all the activity this morning. Tonight hanging around the home and probably knitting some wash cloths for Delia.
Tomorrow: My nephew Charlie is turning 1, so a birthday in Kennebunk is in order. (Now I am wondering about our travel route, they live right outside of the village off of rt 1) I am excited though since I made him his present this year. I made a knitted caterpillar with a striped hat, then made a matching hat for Charlie. Delia likes the caterpillar so I may be making another one of those at some point...
Sunday: Pumpkin carving with DH's family in the afternoon. It's a yearly tradition, but of course this year we have Delia. My plan is to get a white skinned pumpkin for Delia, then help her do her hand prints on the outside. I think we are doing dinner there, so no cooking for me. However, I think I might make choc. chip pumpkin cookies as a dessert....
I was thinking of Charlie when I saw that. Didn't realize it was his b-day though. Traffic shouldn't be that bad. Goodluck with the daycare, hope it works for the both of you!
Tonight: Relaxing/sleeping early.
Tomorrow: Weekly trip to Lowes, painting kitchen, grocery shopping.
Sunday: Finish painting the kitchen because our cabinet install starts MONDAY!!! Whooo hoooo! Keeping my fingers crossed that I will be feeling up to having dinner out.
Jacki - sorry your week has been so rough! Hope things start looking up soon!
Erika - break a leg tonight! One of these days I'm going to have to go see a performance. I love belly dance!
Sarah - happy 30th!! Congrats!
Tonight I'm working until 11 and then probably going straight to bed when I get home. It's felt like such a long week for some reason.
Tomorrow DH and I will be cleaning, organizing, and packing for our upcoming move!! Then at 6 I'm attending a friend's Lia Sophia party.
Sunday I think I'm going to Unity for The Great Maine Apple Day. If not, just more cleaning and packing.
Have a great weekend ladies!
