Re: Britax 25% off
Yes, I would probably go to BRU. They will let you take them out and try them. I am not sure if any other stores (like Kids Stuff) allows that. You can switch to the convertible seat when ever you feel comfortable. You will find that most kids will outgrow their seats by height before weight, so look for a convertible with a tall shell.
You can see the most recommended seats at www.carseatblog.com. The Radian has a really tall shell, but I doesn't fit every car and can be a pain if you are switching in and out of cars. I have Britax seats, and I love them, but their are a lot of good seats. Maybe go to BRU try them out and see what you like and go from there. If you have questions about any seat, I can usually answer it, and if I don't have the answer I will find it for you!
It really is personal preference. I loved our infant seat, and I would have used it the entire first year, but I loaned it out to another Omaha nestie. Plus, if do to expiration date on car seats, it give you a little more use out of the infant seat. For example, our infant seat expires in December 2012. I won't have another baby before then most likely, so if you think about it, I actually used it maybe 2 years out of that time, if that. Kinda sucks. As long as he is comfortable and within the limits, you can leave the seat in the car and carry him, since you would do that with a convertible anyway. Just depends on preference.
My DD's convertible seat expires in March of 2014, and my DD won't likely outgrow it before it expires, because she is SO tiny. My DS seat expires in 2016, and he will likely outgrow it by height before it expires because he is so BIG.
I will still probably have to buy another seat for each kid. My DD will be too tiny for a booster, so she will have to move to a Frontier or a Nautilus seat. I am not sure what will happen with DS, I guess it depends on his growth pattern.
Sorry, I could go on and on. Just let me know if you have any other questions.
