just got a knock - asked who it was - he says he's with verizon fios and he's doing customer service.
i don't think we have fios. i do not open the door - talk thru it instead.
i ask him if we have an appt., and he says no - he's going around talking to people about it. i told him i'm not interested. he says that people don't understand what it is and he wants to discuss it with me.
i said no again and he persisted - so i just said - i'm not opening the door for you unless i have an appointment with you. good night.
and walked away.
i'm home alone with sam. we're not usually home at this time - i have no clue if businesses solicit door to door during this time.
was i over-paranoid? is door to door cold calls usual?
Re: does Verizon FIOS go door to door?
I don't know if Fios does this because that's what we have, but Cablevision has shown up at my door randomly before, trying to talk me into switching. Better safe than sorry these days!

it's understandable to be skeptical, especially if you were home alone, but yes they do this. They did it in my complex when they were installing fios and came around door to door selling it. that's actually how we got our amazing deal. we told the guy at the door we wouldn't switch unless he made us an offer we couldn't refuse....and he did.
but if I was home alone I probably would have told him to f*$k off too. lol

told my husband about it when he got home. he said they do come around, and you won't see a car or van - they'll park and walk your neighborhood.
he thought i was a bit paranoid, but i'm still confident that i did the right thing by not opening the door.
she's 14.
lol! it's hard to remember that she's 4 sometimes!
no you weren't over paranoid. i never open the door unless i know who it is. esp. when im alone with the baby. dh always answers the door.
we actually got fios through door to door sales. but i live in a condo. the kid was a young kid who was here for an hour explaining to my husband the service. to this day my husband stilll has to call verizon to have them fix our bill because the door to door sales guy wasn't correct in what he was offering my husband.
there have been random door to door sales people who still come to the door and ask if i would like to discuss fios. the one time i was home i did speak through the door and told him we already have it. he said he could offer a better deal. yeah ok. come back when my husband is home.
Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
