Baby announcements

How quickly were you able to send yours out after baby was born? Is there an expected time frame....within a week? Two weeks? A month?

Re: Baby announcements

  • My goal is to get them out within a month. That's usually what I've seen from family and friends.

I actually have address labels printed up already with everyone I'm going to send them to. That way all I have to do is stick them on the envelope and mail them, no messing around with addressing envelopes!

Mine are designed already too, just waiting to do the photoshoot and get his stats :)

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I brought this up with Matt the other day, and he thinks its unnecessary... like people don't do that anymore. He thinks we'll tell everyone who we would have mailed one to, but I think it's still a nice thing to send to someone. We compromised by deciding that our christmas cards would have a cute family picture on it.

If we were to do them, I would send them out pretty soon after he was born. I would have gotten them from shutterfly as soon as we had a cute picture. It takes less than a week to get things from them, so it wouldn't take long to stuff them and send them out.

That's a good idea. One of my friends is designing ours so I feel like it will take me a while to get the design from her, get them printed, etc. Ugh. Not looking forward to all that with a newborn!

  • We did what Michelle did. I took Wyatt's pictures at 4 days old and put the order in the next day. I got them from Shutterfly 5 days later, popped on the address labels & stamps and mailed. So, probably 2 weeks from his birth date. They were really cute and I had a bunch of coupons for shutterfly and ended up getting them dirt cheap.

That is perfect Michelle!  See, that was my problem, I didn't have anything pre-organized, the adresses ready, envelopes pre-addressed, anything like that.  So then once he was here and we had ordered the annoucments(we got them from Tiny Prints and loved them, and it was super easy) we totally lost motivation and it took us forever to get them out.   Doing all the prep work will make it super easy to get out quickly.  For what it's worth, I have never receieved a birth annoucment from someone until at least a month after the baby had arrived, so everyone else is probably more disorganized like me, haha.  :)

LOL this is good to know! I don't think it will take me a month, but I can't even buy the envelopes yet because I don't know what size the announcement is going to be. I do have the addresses ready to go. Maybe I can task MIL with mailing them out:) She'll probably love that.
