Can someone help me decipher this?

This is a link to make your own clutch, but it doesn't give very detailed directions. (at least for someone who got their first sewing machine today, lol!) I was wondering if you could help me fill in the blanks. Like what's boxing a corner?

The pups!

Re: Can someone help me decipher this?

  • Google is your friend when learning to sew or tackle a new skill.

    I found this:  http://craftapple.wordpress.com/2007/09/01/sewing-tip-squarely-boxing-those-corners/

Good luck and post pics when you are finished.

  • Boxing the corner is figure2.  You sew the bottom of the bag to the side, perpendicular like the photo.  This will give you a bottom to the bag instead of just sides.

What I would do is get some cheap fabric (muslin or anything on sale that you don't care about) and make a practice bag.  That will let you learn by doing.  Once your practice bag turns out and you know what to do, then make a real bag Smile

You are welcome to come and ask any questions here while you progress with the bag.  I am going out for the day but I can answer any questions tomorrow.  I actually will be sewing all day tomorrow so I can be focused and help.

Here is some help to start...

    1. sew the two pieces together on the sides and bottom
    2. Box the corners
    3. Pattern and photos explains the rest until Fig6.   That will need more explanation when you get there and I can help with that tomorrow.

Hope this helps you get started!

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
