Health Insurance...I need to vent...and how much do you pay?
I work for a large hospital who happens to be "the best company to work for in MN". I got a letter today from the hospital saying our health insurance premiuma are again increasing. Now this isn't a surprise, we were told our rates would be increasing over the next three years at a meeting last fall. I'm just bitter that I went from paying $32/pay period to $97 starting in January. I know it could ne worse (we wince had to pay $1500/mo when dh worked for the county. I'm frustrated that our coverage isn't that great and we keep paying more and more and getting less. For being such a great place to work, and I do love my employer...I just feel disappointed.
What do you pay for insurance?
Re: Health Insurance...I need to vent...and how much do you pay?
FWIW DH works for a huge NYC Hospital too (well, a practice w/in a Hospital, but anyway....) and their Health Insurance options are THE WORST. So, I haven't found that medical field = better insurance at all.
I think our insurance is great but DH would tell you that it's more for a healthy person (higher deductibles) than his used to be (they used to have great insurance which cost more per pay period but you basically paid nothing else, ever).
Mine is like $90 or so a month for Me, J and J. $10 office visit co-pay, $400 per person yearly deductible and $1,000 per person out of pocket max per year.
I pay $70/pay period, so $140/month for just me. $15 co-pay, no deductible. DH pays just about the same for his and our plans are pretty similar. Neither of us have a "plus one" option, so we won't get on the same plan until after we have a kid.
I pay around $100/month for just me, with a $350 deductible, $10 co-pay, and $1000 coinsurance max (20% in-network). DH and I aren't allowed to be on the same plan since we work for the same employer, and so he is on the high deductible plan which he pays about $20 for.
As usual, Naylon makes me want to work for Google....

If I took my school district plan, they cover the premium but the deductible is 6K individual, 9K for family(plus the premium would be like 300 out of pocket) were on DHs he pays like 120 out of pocket, we have a 3k deductible for family.

This is exactly what we have, which isn't surprising since we work for the same state. I think what I quoted is the new price after open enrollment for the standard plan, not the "wellness" plan. Our office copays are $35 now but going up to $45 which is ridiculous considering how much we pay per month use it or not. RX copays are going up too...
Next year it will be $340ish for the family medical. DH and I each pay our own dental and vision separately (like $20 for dental and $15 for vision, each). Co-pays will be $45/$55 special, and deductible will be $2000.
