Help a sewing newbie?

So my DH, knowing that I'm "crafty" surprised me with 13 boxes of fabric he got off of craigslist.

I'm a scrapbooker, not a seamstress!

I own a sewing machine, I can handle making simple repairs to clothing, but I've never attempted a large project before. I've always wanted to learn to sew, just never got around to it

Can someone point me toward an easy beginner's quilt pattern?

A nine patch is a great pattern for a beginner.  It only uses square blocks and they can be as big or small as you want to make them.  I know from experience that buying boxes of fabric can leave you with all sorts of different types of fabric, so be sure to use all the same type in one project (don't mix cottons and polyester blends, for example).  Cottons would be the easiest to start with.

    Good luck!
